Fed's Pay For Private Building's Green Projects

From The Las Vegas Sun: Federal funding is coming to a Las Vegas apartment complex to assist with retrofitting it to be green-friendly.
Rep. Shelley Berkley on Thursday released a statement announcing $2 million of Recovery Act funding will go toward improvements at Stella Fleming Towers, near the intersection of Alta Drive and South Decatur Boulevard.

Well, that's nice to see that the Fed's are going to pay for green energy improvements for a local public housing authority complex.
Oh, wait, it's not. It's a private company: About Stella Fleming Towers
Is this your company? Claim This Profile Stella Fleming Towers is a private company categorized under City Government-Housing Programs and located in Las Vegas, NV. Current estimates show this company has an annual revenue of $500,000 to $1 million and employs a staff of approximately 1 to 4.

It's a Section 8 housing unit.
So, what makes this apartment complex so special that it needs the Federal government to pay for it's improvements. This puts it at an unfair competitive advantage to other apartment complexes in the area and the Valley. I live in a town home complex, when are the Fed going to pay for my upkeep so I can have a lower electricity bill?
What a waste of money and it is not fair that other people who live in apartments in the Valley and across the country who have to subsidize this apartment complex and their improvements.
Thanks, Shelly Berkley. You certainly are pig enough to bring home the bacon.

  1. Dan,

YOU ARE THE ONE WHO IS A PIG! AN UNEDUCATED PIG!Shelly Berkley is outstanding and cares for the elderly that resides in this complex that needs alot of improvements! So do us all a favor DAN, before you bark and judge, pray and take a deep breath and educate yourself instead of just thinking about yourself with your little poor me attitude! Seniors deserve comforts, improvements, etc.... It's about helping them, not a free hand out for you! If you don't like your life or where you live - WORK HARDER AND CHANGE IT! DON'T EXPECT OR WANT A FREE MEAL TICKET!

  2. First, we don't write this way here. If you want to act like an idiot, go to the Las Vegas Gleaner.
2nd, I deserve some comfort, improvements etc.. so why isn't the Fed's doing this to my apartment complex.
You are just spouting the socialist liberal agenda, where the government has to help the people. It's a private company, they should foot the bill.
An I love your last sentence- apparently you don't want to work harder and expect a free meal at the government's express. You contridicted yourself.
Come back here when you get some manners and when you actually have something usefull to say.

  3. Dan - You wrote "Pig" in your post, so please go back to grade school and revise your education! You are a selfish person who feels a sense of entitlement - where others owe you this and that! It is not about socialist liberal agendas, etc, but helping SENIOR CITIZENS - SO please get off the political views and see it for what it is. It does not matter where the funding is coming from, but helping seniors improve their quality of life. I hope you believe in god and don't think political but with a sincere heart and plenty of compassion. I will pray for your heart to soften and for your happiness - since you don't have any in your life right now. God be with you and he will be the one to judge all of us. I don't judge you but feel sorry for you.

  4. You complain about my sense of titlement yet you are the recieptient of the entitlement and the people who live there.
What about the lederly who live on their meager savings but own their own home? What about the seniors and disabled who live in apartment buildings that are not subsidized.
This was just a nice rip off of taxpayers, so it can help a private company- not even a non-profit- so it gain in equity at taxpayer expense.

  5. Dan - The seniors that do not live in gov. housing can always apply and get into different programs private or gov. funded to help them. I understand our gov. is not perfect, but seeing what others endure in 3rd world countries, I count my blessings everyday and have to say it's better to be on American soil than elsewhere. I understand gov. waste in taxpayers money, etc. but if any of my contribution to help the lives of others regardless of political views - that's enough for me to sleep good at night. I am learning MONEY causes us to lose focus on what is the most important thing in life - humanity and helping each other unconditionally. When we die we can't take anything with us but our good souls. I am not going to post anymore comments - this is my last post - Despite our heated debates - I wish you the best and still pray for all my fellow brothers and sisters - may god always watch over us and guide us to understand each other with wisdom, forgiveness and old fashion values that our seniors have taught us. I am not being sarcastic but sincere and do wish you the best.

  6. At anon, thanks for stopping by and do appreciate your comments.
I have no problems if individual seniors or seniors as a group get benefits. The problem I have is that a private business (apartment)got the benefits and no one else did. What did the apartment building do to get the free work done?
I do hope the seniors and disabled there get a benefit from the work and I hope that you also got lower rents because of this, besides the lower utility bills.
