A Question For the Left

A lot of the lefty bloggers have been making fun of Glen Beck and his rally on Saturday. Anywhere from 100,00 to 200,000 people were there.
My questions to the left: What liberal can attract that many people. I will spot you President Obama, possibly. But who else?
I don't think there is anyone else.

  1. Well, CBS said 87,000. But then, Michele Bachmann said there were 1.6 MILLION there! If it was 100,000-200,000, good for Beck. But this goes beyond liberal/conservative. Beck is a radio host, a TV host, an author, and practically a cult leader. I'd have been very surprised if after all that buildup he HADN'T gotten an audience.

As for a liberal celebrity getting that big of a crowd, I suspect Bruce Springsteen could do it. Probably already has! You could argue that FarmAID was a "liberal" event, and notorious liberals like Willie Nelson and John Cougar Mellencamp were behind that one. Or how 'bout the telethons put together by George Clooney for disaster relief? Heckuva audience there.

Incidentally, I was reading some Beckapalooza attendee stuff, and it would seem many were disappointed and surprised that it was more a religious revival than a political event. As for the force behind the event, I predict a spectacular flameout for Mr. Beck. That boy ain't right.
