WWAD (What Would Allah Do?)

From the UK Guardian: Police in Bangladesh have arrested four Islamic clerics after a teenage girl accused of having a relationship with a married man was whipped to death.
The clerics were accused of ordering Mosammet Hena, 14, to receive 100 lashes in a fatwa, or religious edict, at a village in south-western Shariatpur district, the area's police chief, AKM Shahidur Rahman, said. The area is 35 miles from the capital, Dhaka.
Fatwas are illegal in Bangladesh, but Islamic clerics sometimes preside over courts that use sharia law and issue fatwas to deal with issues such as extramarital relationships.
Rahman said the girl collapsed after she was lashed in public with a bamboo cane about 70 times on Monday. She was taken to a hospital where she died the same day.
The police chief said the 40-year-old man with whom Hena was allegedly involved was also sentenced to 100 lashes, but fled. "We are hunting for the man," he said.
Anyone who says that Islam is a religion of peace is just off their nut. Islam is not a religion of peace but is a religion of pieces- human pieces.
This thuggery by the Islam "clerics" is the same as if a Catholic priest ordered flogging to a rape victim of priest sexual abuse and then the child dies.
This is beyond disgusting. What is sad is that these thug "clerics" think Allah would have approved of this punishment. What is even sadder, many Muslims believe this as well. I'm pretty sure that if Allah would approve of this kind of punishment of a rape victim, then Allah is a very sick god. But I am pretty sure Allah would not approve of this thug behavior against a 14 rape victim.

  1. An autistic boy in Milwaukee was killed by an evangelical pastor during an "exorcism" to "drive the demons out of him" http://www.wisn.com/news/3660562/detail.html. There have been similar incidents in other parts of the U.S. over the past several years. You believe that Catholic clergy would never treat a rape victim like this, but a Bishop in Brazil tried to force an 8-year-old girl to go through with a life-threatening pregnancy. After she had a life-saving abortion, the Bishop excommunicated the doctor and the girl's mother, but not the stepfather who raped her. Every religion has its dangerous wing nuts. Judging an entire world religion (which has many diverse denominations) by the teachings and actions of its most extreme and violent clergy is an act of ignorance.

  2. Jill, you come across as someone who is independent and progressive. I just don't understand how you can support this religion that is so cruel to women. they treat their women as second class citizens and they always have and always will.
    The cases you cited are the extreme of the extreme cases and happened over a period of years. How many people were killed inthe name of Islam this past week? 10, 20, 100 or more?

  3. Dan,
    Many Christian denominations (notably Roman Catholocism) treat women as second class citizens. I am not a fan of any of them, but I support the right of people to choose their own religion. Not all Moslem denominations treat women with cruelty. In more modernized cultures, like Indonesia and Turkey, women are equal citizens. Even in Pakistan, there is a world of difference between the rural tribal regions and the cities of Lahore and Karachi. I have no problem with criticizing the bad actors. I do have a problem with lumping modern secular Moslems in with violent fanatics, as you seem to do in your anti-Moslem posts. You make no distinction between 3rd-generation American Moslems in Dearborn, MI and suicide bombers in south Asia. That's like equating the Osmonds with Warren Jeffs.

  4. Sorry Jill, but the Roman Catholics don't stone their women to death. But unlike most Christian religions, they hold Mary, the mother of Jesus in high esteem.
    I would have more respect for the so-called moderate Muslims if they would hold rallies denouncing Muslim violence, or art least speak out about it. But they can't because they are afraid to or they don't want to.
    Further, even more moderate Muslims make their women wear scarves over their head when they are out in public. That is not liberating to women.

  5. just so we're clear Dan Roman catholics do place women as second class citizens we ostracize even women who are saints- we make them into isolated beings. As if they are select few women who have been "made" to do good when in reality if we are to measure women as such we need measure men much the same way. and Roman catholics do stone women please google roman catholics stoning a woman and you may find any number of videos and stroies form even right here in america about how such a beautiful religion has done such awful things. and one last point the muslium religion is one of peace. even though i myslef am a roman catholic i read the Koran and you should see how very close it is to the bible.

    further more there are Christan secs that are moderate that require women to where certain things and to cover certain body parts.
    @Jill you go sister.
