CCFD Fires Firefighter For Sick Leave Abuse

From the LVRJ: A Clark County firefighter has been terminated for misusing sick leave.
Donald Munn, an 18-year veteran, was fired this week after officials determined he improperly used sick leave.
Thirteen other firefighters are under internal investigation and face punishments ranging from firing to demotion to forfeiture of sick leave, according to county officials, who said the penalties would be meted out in the coming weeks.

I think this is a good thing, but something seems strange about this. It seems that the CCFD and Clark County are trumpeting this when they usually don't discipline employees in public and they certainly don't name names unless the employee is charged with a crime.
Could it be that Clark County is trumpeting this because of the candidacy of Chris Giunchigliani, who is running for mayor of Las Vegas?
