Pawn Stars Review: May 9, 2011

Welcome to the 100th episode of Pawn Stars. Actually, I thought it was more than that.
In the first episode, the first guy brought in an 1890's Colt Revolver- a Colt 45. The guy wanted $5000 and Rick offered $2500 and then $3000 and that was the deal. The guy paid $25. Sean came in and looked at it and said it looked good and they can get about $5000. They then went to Pahrump and shot the gun. Notice the snow in the mountains in the background? (it snowed today up in the mountains, thunderstorms in the Valley)
The next guy brought in a 1950's Binz Motor Scooter. It was pretty old and pretty small and has a seat that would hurt. The guy wanted $2000. Corey offered $800 and then $1000 and then $1075 for the sale price. Hopefully, Corey does better than last week's scooter he bought. If you remember, Corey looked very pissed when he saw the restoration price. Also noticed that Corey has lost a bit of weight.
The next guy brought in a picture of Japanese Zero that was shot down in Alaska. The guy had pictures of the Zeros and the dead pilots. the battle was by Dutch Harbor, which is famous by the Deadliest Catch. Time for for an expert, Mark of the Clark County Museum. http://www.clarkcountynv.gov/Depts/parks/Pages/clark-county-museum.aspx
Marl said they were original but there were other photos out there. The guy wanted $750 and Rick offered $100 and then $200. Final price $250.
The next guy had a skull, a Tiger's Eye Skull. The guy wanted $200 and the Chumlee did the bargaining and it went for $140.
The next guy came in with Elvis Presley's medical records, especially EKG's and x-rays. The guy wanted $50,000. Rick didn't make an offer because of the risk.
In the second episode, the first guy brought in a Harry Houdini straitjacket. Earlier, they bought a set of shackles. http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2011/01/pawn-stars-review-january-17-2011.html
The guy wanted $100,000 for the straitjacket. Murray, the expert came in to check it out. He had to go to some pictures to see if it was real or not and they had to compare a old picture to the straitjacket. He determined that it was really Houdini's jacket and it would go for up to $40,000. They guy wanted $40,000 and Rick offered $15,000 and then $25,000. No sale.
The next guy brought in an Ebbets Field speaker. Ebbets field is in Brooklyn. The guy wanted $500 and Rick offered $200 and then $350 and that was the selling price. The Old Man spent time playing with the speaker.
The next guy brought in a picture and letter from Helen Keller who was deaf and blind. If you ever seen the movie, The Miracle Worker, which is a great movie, you see Helen Keller in her youth. The letter was typewritten by her. Time for an expert. The expert said that the letter was real and worth about $1250. The guy wanted $600 and the Old Man offered $550 and that was the selling price.
The next guy brought in a large antique telescope a Carl Zeiss.. My wife and son would love this. The guy got $1000 for the telescope.
Have a nice week. Next week is the start of rerun season.

  1. Let's see, the guy gives 25.00 to some old timer for a gun worth 5000.00? Some would say that was a good deal, I say it was robbery. Old people are always getting ripped off cause they don't know what they have. Come on people, I'm not blaming the Pawn guys but the guy who ripped off the old timer should have been arrested.

    1. They gave him $3000 for it, the old guy paid $26 for it when he originally bought it, so a nice profit of $2974 - hardly ripped off.

  2. If you think this guy was ripped, how about the suckers on American Picker. Frank seems to get his rocks off ripping off people.

  4. I always wanted to go the shop. I did. Never again. They are very, very rude people. There was only 4 people there that didn't look and act like thugs. They are a total rip off . Never again! Use to watch the show all the time on T.V. Can't wait for them to never get aired again. They asked if we would stay to be on one of the shows. Wish we hadn't wasted our time. They never said Thank - you, Thanks for coming. They are pretty stuck on themselves. When you stand and hear how they are ripping people off . It will make you sick! They ask you to stay while they film for a least 45 minutes. You can't look at the camera. You can't talk. I was never so..... glad to get out of a place!Sure be glad when they get taken off the air. They don't deserve to have a show.

    1. You have NO IDEA what it takes to run a business and tape a TV show for a Network at the same time plus make a profit too.

  5. I wish more people would go to auction, for some of the items I see on the show the people would do much better at auction even with commission. I think they get excited about wanting to go to the casino and throw the baby away with the bath water.
