It's The Economy, Stupid

Bill Clinton won his first presidency by saying "It's the economy, stupid" and he was right.
Well, this better be the GOP mantra as well.  If the GOP candidate focuses on the economy, the GOP can nominate a ham sandwich or Ron Paul and still win the presidency.
From CNSNews:  So far, during the presidency of Barack Obama, the price of a gallon of gasoline has jumped 83 percent, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
During the same period, the price of ground beef has gone up 24 percent and price of bacon has gone up 22 percent.
When Obama entered the White House in January 2009, the city average price for one gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $1.79, according to the BLS. (The figures are in nominal dollars: not adjusted for inflation.) Five months later in June, unleaded gasoline was $2.26 per gallon, an increase of 26 percent. By December 2011, the price of regular unleaded gas per gallon was $3.28, an 83 percent increase from January 2009. http://cnsnews.com/news/article/under-obama-price-gas-has-jumped-83-percent-ground-beef-24-percent-bacon-22-percent
While George W. Bush had 1 or 2 instances of high gas prices, under Obama, I am positive that the average gas price has been much higher than any other president.
Funny, when gas prices went sky high under Bush, the liberals cried that Bush was causing high gas prices to help his buddies in the oil business.  Funny how the liberals are now silent now that the gas prices are sky high under Obama.  There's no cry of "No blood for oil" or other stupid phrases. (And once again, this shows that liberals are hypocrites and have a mental disease)
And the cost of groceries is also going sky high.  Obama and the liberals claim that they care about the poor, but it is their policies that have helped raise grocery prices.  From the new farming regulations, to new trucking regulations to new employment regulations, they all contribute to higher prices of food and other items.  The liberals, led by Obama put regulating business ahead of keeping prices the same or lower.
So, if the GOP is smart, and they are not, they should be repeating Clinton's mantra: "It's the economy stupid."  If they do that, we may have a ham sandwich be elected president in 2012.

  1. Gas did get up in the mid-$4 range in 2008. Was it really $1.79 by January? That doesn't seem right.

Anyway, the problem you have on your hands, Dan, is that a ham sandwich is more palatable than any of the candidates left standing on the GOP side. And whichever one gets the nom is going to have to run against the REAL Obama, not the caricature they've invented of him.

    1. The real Obama? Who is that?
Right now, i can see Santorum beating Obama because you will have a real conservative vs liberal contest.
Romney will be an Obama lite vs Obama heavy.
But if it is a brokered convention, look for a Rubio or Christie nomination and if that happens, goodby Obama.
