From Fox News: The standoff between the Obama administration and the Catholic Church intensified Monday, as a leading clergyman freshly urged Catholics and worshippers in other religions to protest a federal policy that the White House indicated it is not inclined to revise further.
"People need to speak up," Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Archbishop of Washington, said during an appearance Monday on the Fox News program "America’s Newsroom."
"There's one thing in the heart of this nation that we're counting on, and that's the basic fairness of the American people."
At issue is a ruling last month by the Department of Health and Human Services mandating that all employers provide free access to contraception for female workers. Devout Catholics oppose the use of contraception and objected to the rule as an attack on religious liberty, arguing the federal government was forcing Catholic-affiliated charities, hospitals and schools to violate deeply held doctrine.
President Obama – who won the Catholic vote in 2008 and was eager to quell a growing controversy as he girds for a tough re-election fight in the fall – announced a modification of the rule on Friday. Under his proposed "accommodation," such Catholic-affiliated organizations would not have to pay for the contraception offered under their employees’ health care plans; instead, the relevant insurance companies would do so

President Obama obviously has not been following the Catholic Church lately. In years past, the Catholic Bishops would have rolled over and quit over issues like these. the Bishops have done this numerous times. However, lately, the Catholic Church have promoted strong Bishops who are not afraid to speak out. One of the first Bishops promoted was Raymond Burke, formerly of the LaCrosse, WI. diocese and St. Louis Diocese. They also have Cardinal Timothy Dolan, formerly of the Milwaukee Diocese and now is Cardinal of the New York City Diocese. These two Catholic leaders and others are not afraid to speak out against Obama and others, which has to be a shock to the Obama administration.
But to be sure, Obama really doesn't care about Catholics and their beliefs. If Obama really cared about Catholics, he never would have nominated Kathleen Sebelius, the pro-abortion bitch who is the Hitler to fetuses.
If he cared about Catholics and their beliefs, he wouldn't have attended his Church is Chicago that was anti-Catholic and anti-American.
So, Obama really doesn't care what the Catholic Bishops are saying. All he wants to is to intimidate the Bishops into shutting up and going away quietly. Well, apparently, that is not happening and it is also not happening in the pulpit either. I guess that means is that the Bishops are getting stronger by speaking out against Obama or Obama is getting weaker that people are not afraid to stand up to him anymore. either way, it spells trouble for Obama.
