Three Nevada Democrats voted for Obamacare in 2009- Crybaby Harry Reid, Shelly Berkley and Dina Titus and they were very proud to do so.
Since Obama has decided to fight a war against the Catholic Church and other Christian denominations by demanding that they cover abortion and contraceptives in their health insurance policies for it's employees, Reid, Berkley and Titus have been very silent on the issue. No press releases supporting or opposing the President and his policy. No interviews about the subject- nothing.
So what are thier views? Titus, I am positive, supports Obama because she is very pro-abortion and really doesn't support religious activities, even though she belongs to the Greek Orthodox Church, so she would be in favor of Obama's position. The Greek Orthodox Church is closely aligned with the Catholic Church, so much so, that the members of the Greek Church can take communion in a Catholic Church. But again, Titus is quite liberal and pro-abortion.
Shelly Berkley is a liberal Jewish woman and is very pro-abortion, so she would probably favor Obama's position.
Crybaby Harry Reid, however is difficult to determine if he supports Obama on this issue. Clearly, Reid has his nose so far up Obama's ass, that it comes out Obama's Afro.
However, Reid claims he is a practicing Mormon and the Mormon religion is very conservative, especially compared to the Catholic Church. They oppose abortion but do not a firm policy on contraceptives. But Reid has not commented on this policy since Obama declared war and there is nothing on his web site about the issue, including the section on health care and Obamacare.
The Obama policy will affect Mormons because they are a large organization with many employees and provide insurance to them. So, will Crybaby Reid stick with Obama or will he side with his religion? I put the question to Reid via his web site, so, we shall see, if Reid and his flunkies, err aides will answer the question.
So, if the GOP candidates for office against Berkley and Titus were smart, then they will bring up this issue and force Berkley and Titus to side with Obama or religion. But then they are GOP candidates sooo...

As an atheist, I'm having trouble getting too upset about this. I think we tend to coddle religions and the religious in this country. Catholics and Mormons have churches that are not taxed, and yet they are politically active (to my own personal detriment).
ReplyDeleteBut "Obama's hatred of the Catholic Church" is a bit hyperbolic, Dan! Let me tell you a true story.
When Andy & I had our reception a few years ago, some of the girls in attendance went out on the strip together afterward. One of them was my younger sister. She was given a date rape drug, and was separated for the rest of the girls, and lost several hours of awareness. She came out of it the next morning, with no shoes, and no underpants, and no idea what happened.
As blurry details stirred, she had the fear that she had possibly been raped. We tried taking her to a quick care, but it was closed. So, we took her to St. Rose. We were there for a long, long time, but they would not accomodate her request for the "morning after" pill, because it is a Catholic hospital. We're talking ONE DAY of possible pregnancy. That's not a baby, I don't care what your religion is.
So, we had to take her across town in the middle of the night to a different, non-Catholic hospital, and go through the whole ordeal all over again. A policeman drove her, which was nice of him. It was ridiculous. I agree with Obama on this one.
It's perfectly fine to have your religion in church. But when that church is running business to the general public, especially in health related fields, they need to allow for the customers who are NOT part of the religion. This is not an unreasonble thing to ask, to my mind.
