Today is another day of reruns, so instead of watching the show tonight, I decided to go see the Gold and Silver Pawn Store, home of the Pawn Stars.
Well, it certainly was different from the last time I saw them, which was this Spring. They have opened up a new area of the shop so they can allow more people into see them.
The parking is also different as you can park on both sides of the Shop, instead of just the south side of the shop. Wonder if I can get my ticket reimbursed?
Anyways, I had no problem getting in. the big, black security guard who you see in the background from time to time was there. Last time we were there, he was quite friendly to people, today, he couldn't care less. No other "stars" were there today.
They still have a lot of items you have seen on the show still for sale. This includes a antique cash register that I think was bought for about $100 is on sale and not fixed up for about $1500. Nice mark up. They also had some guns for sale that were in the show.
Their main focus continues to be jewelry and there was still a lot of jewelry for sale. When you went to the back of the shop, in the new area, there were a lot of souvenirs for sale including bobble head dolls, Gold and Silver bottles of water for $2 each, T-shirts and their faces glued on to dollar bills, selling for $10.
They also had an old fashioned merry-go-round that you see at grocery stores (pay a quarter and put your kid on) but that will be seen on the show on August 23rd. It was kind of rusted, so I don't know what they will do with it.
They had some motorcycles in the back, including one they are selling for $40,000. In the back, they also had, in a picture frame, the battle plans for I think, D-Day, that we have seen on the show. It was not for sale.
They also had numerous new employees working there, I would say at least 25 or more people working there. Some were young kids, maybe high school age, so I am thinking maybe they are the kids of an employee who works there.
They still had the old barber chair from season 1 and they had the two dummies the Old Man bought last season. They also had a Dr. Pepper and a Coke soda vending machine for sale.
They also had normal pawn stuff like bikes and hand tools used in construction. They had some art work and coins.
So, the store has gotten bigger, the prices seem to be outrageous unless you dicker and you can really buy more things at a regular pawn store, if you want to save money.
So, if you have a chance, go see the shop, it is different but be prepared to buy souvenirs.
