The Las Vegas Sun is reporting that a NHP trooper was involved in a very serious accident on the I-15 and Russell.
From the Sun: A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper was sitting in his car while investigating an accident when his cruiser was struck Saturday on Interstate 15, police said.
The trooper was struck about 5:40 p.m. on northbound I-15, near Russell Road.
Emergency responders were arriving at the scene and other details, including the condition of the trooper, were not available, NHP spokeswoman Trooper Chelita Rojas said.
She said the trooper was investigating another accident, which occurred shortly before 5 p.m., on a stretch of highway under construction as part of the I-15 South Design-Build Project.
The trooper was sitting in his car, which was blocking the right lane of the freeway, when it apparently was hit by another vehicle, Rojas said.
Crews were working to extricate the trooper from the car. He was expected to be taken to University Medical Center, Rojas said.

There is no reason why we have so many accidents on the I-15, from Charleston to Primm. It is a straight stretch of road with no visual problems.
The only reason why people wreck on this stretch is because of driver stupidity. Nothing else.
