Maybe This Is One Reason Minnesota Has Financial Problem?

From the liberal Huffington Post regarding the shut down of the state of government: The shutdown was rippling into the lives of people like Sonya Mills, a 39-year-old mother of eight facing the loss of about $3,600 a month in state child care subsidies. Until the government closure, Mills had been focused on recovering from a May 22 tornado that displaced her from a rented home in Minneapolis. Now she's adding a new problem to her list.

She brings in more money for babysitting than I do each month. In 3 months, she gets more for babysitting than the State pays the school to teach them. She gets $43,200 each year tax free for babysitting money on top of all the money such as welfare, salary and food stamp money she brings in. Tax free.
So, when Minnesota says they have no place to cut, maybe they should look at the Sonya Mills of the world and other moochers who take and take and not give back.

  1. Eight is quite a troop. I'd think though unless there were multiple births, no more than three are preschoolers and in day care. Most if not all states have child care subsidy programs as well so nothing unique to Minnesota. Now the level of generosity varies and is another thing entirely. In the Texas program, childcare providers would not get anywhere near $3,600 for three kids per month. More like a third of that. Minnesota seems like a good place to be in the child care business.
