All This For A Big Coo Coo Clock?

From the Budget: The first reading of an ordinance to purchase property that will be used as the location for the World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock was presented and read for the first time at Sugarcreek’s Village Council meeting Monday night.
“We must move forward with this as soon as possible,” shared Sugarcreek Mayor Jeremiah Johnson. “Time is important.”
Village Solicitor Attorney Doug Frautschy noted that the deed should be ready in the next several days as the plat was received last week. He noted that the ordinance could be passed as soon as the next meeting of Sugarcreek Council set for Monday, September 26 at 7 p.m. at Village Hall.
In a related matter, Zach Deems of W. E. Quicksall and Associates was present to go over the plan to date for the installation of the World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock. “We are looking at finalizing our plans for the foundation wall for the clock,” he said. “Those will be submitted for approval and at that point our contact work is done unless the Village wants us to help with the bidding of the project, if needed, or the construction administration issues associated with it.”
Members of council got a copy of plans for landscaping for the clock location as prepared by Schoenbrunn Landscaping. While the plans are not set in stone, Mayor Johnson noted that it is a starting point for the village to look at in terms of finances. It was also noted that Clerk Treasurer Becky Crilow is to investigate funding options from local banks for the project.
Deems also spoke about W. E. Quicksall’s involvement in the State Route 93 Water Line Replacement Project. “To my knowledge all the physical work has been done,” he said and asked Village Administrator Richard Rausch and Mayor Jeremiah Johnson for comment to the contrary if there was a situation he was not informed about concerning the project. Deems shared that he is waiting on some paperwork from Bontrager Excavating so that the final requests for payment can be expedited.

And you wonder why regulations are killing businesses and in this case, a local government?
