Las Vegas Sun Lays Off 12 Employees

Showing once again that the Las Vegas Sun is just a bunch of hypocrites, the Sun laid off a dozen employees from their media group.
From the Sun: The Sun is not immune to the consequences of the recession.
The newspaper derives most of its revenue from the Review-Journal in accordance with a joint operating agreement between the two organizations.
And so, a month after the R-J laid off employees in its newsroom, the Sun today was compelled to follow suit, laying off a dozen employees of the Greenspun Media Group.
Brian Greenspun, GMG’s president and CEO, said the company was "too exposed to the fortunes of the Review-Journal, a business we can’t control. That is a central reason for the events of today.
"This is a tragic event for those who lost their jobs, for this company and for the community," Greenspun said in a message to company employees. "I want to take a moment to thank all of those affected for their hard work and dedication. They will be missed sorely."

First, for the Sun to blame the LVRJ for their poor management skills is so pathetic and a lie. Keep in mind that Brian "The Coward" Greenspun, the head of the Sun Media Group and their land holdings lost The District at the Green Valley Ranch to foreclosure in February of 2011 (http://www.lvrj.com/business/the-district-sold-at-auction-for-50-million-116611813.html )
The LVRJ responded to the lunacy of the Sun accusations: Mike Ferguson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Stephens Media, called Greenspun's comments laughable.
"To attempt to lay the blame for these unfortunate job losses at the steps of the Review-Journal is a sad statement and tells us much about the state of the management of Greenspun Media and a failure to recognize the true history of the relationship between Stephens Media, the Review-Journal and the Sun," Ferguson said. "We entered into a Joint Operating Agreement in 1990 for the expressed purpose of saving the then-failing Sun. If it were not for this action there would be no Sun today."
Ferguson said the agreement was amended in 2005 to allow the Sun to be published in the morning and delivered to the full circulation of the Review-Journal, which was many times that of the stand-alone Sun.

So, money management is not exactly the high point over at the Greenspun plantation.
And once again the liberals, such as as the Sun, depend on conservatives, like the LVRJ, and then when things goes bad, they blame conservatives for the problems they caused.
And how many times has the Sun run editorials ripping on the GOP on creation and now they cut their own staff? Hypocrites.
I hate for people to lose jobs, but considering the 12 worked for the Sun, maybe they will actually get out and see the real world and see how it works out.
