There are many reasons why people should not give to the united Way. Wasteful spending, high wages for the administrators, money can go to charities that you would never send money to etc.
Now, there is another reason: Politics. Yesterday, there was a large rally with thousands of people in New York City and it comprised of the usual liberal groups that like to protest. Anarchists, community organizers, socialists and...The United Way. Yep, that United Way that tries to embarrass you into giving through your employer. They were protesting the usual liberal stuff- education, poverty and the need for fresh produce (?)

If an organization wants to protest, fine, but now the United Way has started to get political. Since they chose to be political, then they need to let people that they are a liberal political organization and not a political neutral agency.
Just another reason why not to donate to the United Way.

OMG! An organization that helps people wants to help people! Will the horrors never end?!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I hear the Boys and Girls Scouts want to help kids too! We better boycott them as well, right Dan?
May we then assume "usual" conservative stuff comprises anti-education, pro-poverty and wilted lettuce?
ReplyDeleteNo, capper, it's one thing to say you are neutral and use the money donated for a specific purpose. It is totally another thing to say you have a political bent and use money donated to be political.
ReplyDeleteYou cannot say with a straight face that the protests in NYC were apolitical.
And Jim, conservatives believe in good education, anti-poverty and for good lettuce, we just chose to go about it in different ways. We usually don't make up signs, close down bridges and act like fools.
So fighting for the poor, better education and fresh vegetables are political issues now? Silly me, I thought they were human issues.
ReplyDeleteAnd Jim, conservatives believe in good education, anti-poverty and for good lettuce, we just chose to go about it in different ways. We usually don't make up signs, close down bridges and act like fools.
Yeah, Jim, they make sure that everyone that is wealthy enough, conservative enough and white enough have enough of those things. Then they sip champagne and mock those that lack these things. And if you don't like it, they turn it into a police state and make political prisoners of those who oppose them.
That's how civilized they are.
And you called me deranged capper? Wow, what you wrote is just bizzare.
ReplyDeleteYet it's all real and documented. Or have you only been watching Faux News and weren't aware of the occupation of Wall Street and despicable behavior of Blooomberg, his thugs and the elite rich?
ReplyDeleteIt's documented that Chris Liebenthal stole from the taxpayers and was suspended for doing so.
ReplyDeleteIt's also a documented fact that Jim Spice and family tried to screw over the Mega Marts and was punked in court over it.
And if Anonymous was brave enough to reveal his name, we could CCAP them, too. Mickey, is that you again?
ReplyDeleteYou've misspelled Scott Walker. He's the one that admitted to stealing from the tax payers. He just didn't admit all that he stole yet.
ReplyDelete@John-
Don't expect the troll to name himself. That would require honesty and integrity, two things that it utterly lacks. But at least it wasn't a death threat this time.
Getting back to the post, maybe liberals are not intelligent enough to make decisions on where to donate money.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I don't need a middle man taking a cut of my money when I donate money. If I want to donate to the Scouts, Pro Life groups, Special Olympics, Salvation Army or whatever group I want to.
And for capper and Spice to insinuate that just because conservatives don't donate to United Way, they don't care about the poor, education etc. is just plain stupid. It's been shown that conservatives donate more money to causes than liberals.
But nice try liberals in plaing, how stupid can I be.
There you go lying again, Dan.
ReplyDeleteThe post was about you whining that a community advocacy group is advocating for the community.
Who you donate or not donate to is irrelevant to me.
But before you defend your intelligence, it might behoove you to make sure your spelling and grammar are correct.
Capper, since you are the king of liars,I guess you know waht you are talking about but not this time.
ReplyDeleteThe United Way does not advertise it is an advocacy group when they seek out donations. They do not mention that some of the money will go for protesting.
If they want to be an advocacy group- fine, then mention that when they seek out donations. But you and I know they won't they won't do that.
It is like a Democrat running as a conservative. False advertising.
And you are not my English teacher.
The United Way helps conservative Christian charities as well.

They need to let people what?
oops. let the peple know they are a liberal political organization.
ReplyDeleteThe ACLU once in the blue moon will fight for a conservative but you would hardly call them conservative. Same with the United Way. Just because they may help a conservative organization now and then, doesn't make them conservative.
