This Is One Hell Of A K-9 Police Dog

Sadly, another police officer has been killed in the line of duty, this time near Pittsburgh, PA. and the story also shows the loyalty of of a K-9 police dog.
From Pittsburghlive.com: Patrolman Derek Kotecki was only 10 minutes into his 7 p.m. shift Wednesday night with his police dog, Odin, when he was fatally shot by fugitive Charlie Post.
Kotecki was one-week shy of completing 18 years on the police force.
Just into his shift, Kotecki and other area officers were told that Post was going to be at the Dairy Queen at 305 Greensburg Road, about four miles away from the Lower Burrell police station along Greensburg Road (Route 366) near Kinloch.
Kotecki had been among the dozens of officers who searched for Post on Oct. 2 when Post, 33, allegedly fired at least a dozen
least a dozen shots at his boss in the parking lot of the Clarion Hotel in New Kensington....
Witnesses said Post lay in the rear of the Jeep holding a pistol, and as Kotecki got out of his SUV with Odin, Post fired the gun through the closed back window, shattering it....
Just after Kotecki was felled, officers were told on their police radios that an officer was down. Police from around the Alle-Kiski Valley, including state police, state drug agents, Pittsburgh and Allegheny County police swarmed to the scene.
When they arrived at the Dairy Queen, strong men and women who work in public safety daily and understand the dangers involved could not restrain their tears. They hugged, shook their heads and prayed.
Odin, Kotecki's police dog, refused to leave his master's side. Allegheny Township police Officer Kerry Myers, who has trained a police dog, helped a master dog handler to take Odin away. He is temporarily receiving care by the handler

This is a terribly sad case where a police officer who was on the job for 18 years, had a wife and children is killed by a useless thug. And then the loyalty of his police dog is very touching indeed. That dog has to be suffering just like the police officer's family, friends and fellow police officers.
