Dedicated To Mayor Hafen And The City Of Henderson City Council

Lyrics: Well I don't know why I came here tonight,I got the feeling that something ain't right,I'm so scared in case I fall off my chair,And I'm wondering how I'll get down the stairs,Clowns to the left of me,Jokers to the right, here I am,Stuck in the middle with you.Yes I'm stuck in the middle with you,And I'm wondering what it is I should do,It's so hard to keep this smile from my face,Losing control, yeah, I'm all over the place,Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right,Here I am, stuck in the middle with you.Well you started out with nothing,And you're proud that you're a self made man,And your friends, they all come crawlin,Slap you on the back and say,Please.... Please.....Trying to make some sense of it all,But I can see that it makes no sense at all,Is it cool to go to sleep on the floor,'Cause I don't think that I can take anymoreClowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right,Here I am, stuck in the middle with you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8StG4fFWHqg
Yep, pretty much sums up the City of Henderson city council and the mayor and their mentality.

Comparisons Of 2 Newly Hired government Attorneys

Yesterday, the City of Henderson and the Clark County School district hired their lead attorney.
Here is the qualification of the CCSD Attorney: The Clark County School District unanimously appointed attorney Carlos McDade on Tuesday to be the district’s general counsel.
McDade, who has more than 25 years of experience as an attorney, will be paid an annual salary of $138,650. His two-year contract begins Dec. 1 and runs through June, 30, 2013.
According to his
biography on his law firm website, McDade is a retired Air Force colonel and judge advocate who joined the Las Vegas law firm Black and LoBello, specializing in property, small business, environmental law and commercial litigation. The Yale University graduate received law degrees from the University of Colorado Law School and The George Washington University Law School. http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011/nov/29/school-district-approves-138650year-general-counse/

Josh Reid was hired by the City of Henderson. His qualifications? He is a private sector environmental lawyer. And according to Pops Reid, he has had good schooling. From the Sun: Members of the council cited Josh Reid’s experience in the private sector and a desire to bring in someone from outside of the city attorney’s office as reasons he stood out among the other candidates.
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011/nov/29/sen-harry-reids-son-josh-named-henderson-city-atto/
If anyone seriously thinks the Henderson hiring was upright and honest, then they need to be examined in a psychiatric facility.
The City of Henderson mayor, Andy Hafen and the city council yesterday showed they are as corrupt as a Chicago politician. And to my council member, Debra March, you are a very corrupt politician and you didn't even have the guts to show your face at the meeting. She called in her vote by telephone. Just pathetic, Debra March.
So, CCSD can go out and find an extremely qualified attorney at a lower salary than Henderson who hired the little boy of Crybaby Harry Reid.
What a contrast between a fairly good government agency and a corrupt political agency.

This Pretty Much Says It All

You can also thank Crybaby Harry Reid and the rest of the Democrats for killing more jobs.

Another Reason To Hate Tofu: Exploding Tofu

From Firehouse.com: Fire investigators in Portland, Ore., are trying to figure out how cleaning a pan of tofu could cause an explosion that broke out a window and resulted in $15,000 of damage.
Fire Bureau spokesman Paul Corah tells The Oregonian (
http://bit.ly/vLTwjn) that a woman in the Old Town district said she cooked tofu Sunday night, and as she washed the pan, a blast knocked a 4-by-6-foot window into the street.
Corah says the 25-year-old woman could tell investigators only that the hot pan "flashed" as she rinsed it. She suffered a slight hand burn.
Corah says investigators found no evidence of a fire, and natural gas is not suspected. He says investigators are calling other West Coast fire agencies for advice.

I hate tofu and may ate it 2-3 times. Now, another good reason to hate tofu: exploding tofu.

So, if you live or visiting Las Vegas, come on down to the Strip. I'll be there for the parade at the Hard Rock.

City Of Henderson City Coucil A Disgrace

Today, the City of Henderson city council voted 4-0 with 1 abstention to hire Josh Reid to become the city attorney of Henderson.
From the LVRJ: The Henderson City Council voted 4-0 with one abstention Tuesday to hire Josh Reid as the next city attorney.
During a public comment period that lasted about an hour, Mayor Andy Hafen said the media made bad assumptions in recent weeks by speculating that Hafen and council members would elect Reid as a political favor to his father, U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev.
"I'm very well aware of what's out there with Sen. Reid," said Hafen, who disclosed his daughter worked with him for eight years, until 2006, when she ran her own campaign for Congress against former Rep. Jon Porter, R-Henderson, in a race that was decided by one percentage point.
Councilwoman Kathleen Vermillion did not vote after announcing she would resign from the City Council effective Jan. 1. Only two people spoke against hiring Reid out of about 70 in attendance.
Neither Reid nor interim City Attorney Christine Guerci-Nyhus were present at City Hall.Reid, one of U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's five sons, walks into the job amid controversy.
Accusations that the job was tilted in his favor popped to the surface several weeks ago when it was learned that his father, one of the most powerful politicians in the nation, lobbied Henderson Mayor Andy Hafen and other members of the City Council to hire him, and that the city lowered the qualifications, which critics say was to make the less experienced Josh Reid eligible to hire.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/henderson-council-hires-josh-reid-as-city-attorney-134724243.html#blogcomments?submitted=y
The city council hired an environmental lawyer (Reid) over an attorney who is a city attorney. For the City of Henderson.
In addition, Crybaby Harry Reid lobbied several members of the city council to hire his son, apparently Josh had to rely on his father to pull some strings.
Further, the City of Henderson dumbed down the qualifications for the job so Reid could apply. How pathetic and corrupt is that?
To my council member, Debra March, you are a disgrace to Henderson and you should resign, otherwise I hope people will try and recall you. But no matter, when it is time for you to run for re-election, don't worry, I will bring this issue and others up against you. Just disgraceful behavior, Debra March.

What Young Kids Are Watching

Over 90,000,000 views.
And I just hit 250,000 views yesterday.
Hmmm, the world is strange.

Just Curious

When President Obama was campaigning, at just about every stop, someone would faint and it was always close to Obama.
Since Obama has been President, there have no reports of fainting by his supporters.
Why is this?
Is it because Obama has lost his charm?
Or, more likely, that the fainting was staged?
Will we see more people fainting in the next campaign?
Just curious.

Pawn Stars Review: November 28, 2011

Welcome to the latest of the new episodes of Pawn Stars. I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving (for those who visit from the U.S.) and now it's Christmas Season. Several radio stations are going wall to wall Christmas music. It's been a beautiful week here in the Valley, with temps. in the 60's and at times close to 70 with lots of sun. Can't beat that.
In the first episode of Pawn Stars, the the guys went out to a local airport to see an L39 Albatross fighter jet airplane, It was a Soviet era airplane. The guy wanted $200,000 for the plane, but Rick needed an expert, Matt. Matt is a former Blue Angel pilot and Top Gun Graduate. He looked the plane over and said it looked ok. Rick and Chumlee didn't want to fly in the plane when given the chance. They took the plane from I think, the Henderson Airport. They really took the plane on a nice trip with rolls. Matt thought the plane was worth around $170,000. To keep the plane, Rick would have to hanger the plane and fly it at $5000 a pop. The guy wanted $200,000. Rick offered $80,000 and there was no sale but because of the risk.

The next guy brought in a bat from Babe Ruth and a old glove from Christy Mathewson. The guy wanted between $50-100,000 Time for an expert- Jeremy. Jeremy thought both the bat and glove were not real because of the time period and because someone who had authenticated the glove and bat were not trustworthy.. at least the signatures were fake. No sale.
The next guy brought in a sun tanning lamp from the 1940's. It kind of looks like a satellite dish. They plugged in the lamp and the light hummed and it was quite bright. The guy wanted $400 and Rick offered $40 and then $50 and that was the sale price.
In the second episode, the first guy brought in a movie poster from the movie Bullitt. The poster was autographed by Steve McQueen, Jacqueline Bisset, Robert Vaughn Robert Duvall etc. Time for an expert, Drew. Drew said the signatures were fake. Steve McQueen's signature had a lot of mistakes in it, so no sale. The poster by itself was worth $1000 but with the signatures, it was worth nothing. Mark from the Clark County Museum showed up. Mark said there was nothing extraordinary and not that rare. The guy wanted $20,000. Rick offered $200. Then the guy said he would take $3000. No sale.
The next guy brought in 2 old Civil War diaries from 1864-65. they were from his great, great grandfather. They were hard to read because of the script. Time for another expert.
The next guy brought in a 2004 New England Patriots Super Bowl championship from Ricky Bryant. It was from Super Bowl 39 and they played the Eagles. Because there was a concern of the Josten's signature inside the ring, so time of the cast. Time for an expert. Jeremy came in again and said that the ring was real and worth $30-35,000. The guy wanted $22,000 and Rick offered $18,000 and then $20,000. Finally, they settled at $21,000 for the sale price.
And that wraps another new episode of Pawn Stars. Thanks for stopping by.

Buh Bye Barney

Rep. Barney Frank has decided to leave congress. Simply put, Frank has done more to hurt the economy than just about anybody else. When it comes to economics, he is as stupid as meth user after drinking a 18 pack of beer.

From Fox News: Longtime Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., announced Monday he is not seeking re-election, saying that redistricting has made it too strenuous to continue to campaign.
The 16-term lawmaker, whose name is emblazoned on the banking reform law that passed Congress last year, had long been rumored to be ready for retirement. He said Monday that he actually decided "tentatively" to retire after passage of the law, serving out one more term, but when Republicans won the 2010 midterm he decided he didn't want to be a lame duck so didn't announce his plans until now.
Frank said he now wants to do some combination of writing, teaching and lecturing, but will not become a lobbyist.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/11/28/barney-frank-to-announce-retirement/?test=latestnews

Karl Rove nails it: Mr. Frank’s departure in January 2013 will remove from the House one of its more offensive members. Until then, this petulant, abrasive and downright nasty Congressman will keep making his presence known.
However, it is unlikely that Mr. Frank is leaving for the reason he should depart Congress: out of shame for all he did to stop reform of Fannie and Freddie while there was still time to avert the disaster that almost took down the American economy.
In 2003, he called Fannie and Freddie “fundamentally sound financially” and accused the Bush Administration of trying to “exaggerate a threat of safety… [to] conjure up the possibility of serious financial losses to the Treasury, which I do not see."
A year later, he said talk of
financial problems at Fannie and Freddie were “an artificial issue created by the administration...I don't think we are in any remote danger here."
In 2007, as Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee and just as Fannie and Freddie – overleveraged and stuffed to the gills with risky mortgages they’d encouraged and facilitated – were about to go over the cliff, Mr. Frank attacked President
George W. Bush’s call for reform as “inane.”
Yet when Fannie and Freddie went belly up in the fall of 2008, Mr. Frank voted for the same Bush Administration reforms that could have averted the bankruptcies of Fannie and Freddie.
Why did Mr. Frank oppose giving these two gigantic financial institutions the same scrutiny as a local bank, a neighborhood savings and loan or a community
credit union?
Fannie and Freddie provided “grease” for the Democratic political machine through hundreds of millions in charitable contributions to left wing community and advocacy groups that are critical to Democratic get-out-the-vote efforts.

Good lord, what can he lecture about? How to run a house of prostitution? Well, I suppose he would be a perfect fit in Nevada for that one.

A lot of people are hurting badly because of Barney frank. If he wasn't in the House, he would have had his butt thrown in jail.

So good bye Barney, and don't let the door hit you in your big fat ass.

Two 73 Year Old Pro Football Players In Brawl

From the CBC: Time does not necessarily heal all wounds.
Former CFL legends Joe Kapp and Angelo Mosca became involved in a fight Friday during a CFL alumni luncheon in Vancouver.
A video of the incident on YouTube showed Kapp attempting to give Mosca flowers as an apparent peace offering and Mosca rejecting the gesture with an expletive.
Kapp, 73, a former B.C. Lions quarterback, then shoved the flowers in Mosca's face, prompting the 74-year-old Mosca, a former Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive lineman, to attempt to shove them away with his hands. Kapp then swatted Mosca with the flowers, and Mosca retaliated by swinging his cane and striking Kapp in the head.
Kapp then landed a right hand to Mosca's jaw, then a left that felled Mosca.
"It was the most bizarre thing that's happened to me in 31 years in the game," said comedian Ron James, who was serving as the luncheon's host. "It's unfortunate because lost in all this was the great work Leo Ezerins [CFL alumni association head] did to set this up to bring attention [to post-concussion syndrome in pro athletes]."
The bad blood between Kapp and Mosca goes back 48 years from Hamilton's 21-10 win over B.C. in the 1963 Grey Cup. In that game, Mosca delivered a controversial hit on Lions running back Willie Fleming, knocking Fleming out of the game.
Kapp and Mosca were supposed to talk about the hit at the luncheon. The plan was for the audience to vote on whether it was a good or bad hit afterwards, James said.
http://www.cbc.ca/sports/football/cfl/story/2011/11/27/sp-cfl-mosca-kapp-fight.html

The punch Kapp threw probably was harder than the stomp Suh did to the Green Packer guard this Thanksgiving.

CPS Nazis At It Again

I have mixed feelings about CPS workers who investigate child abuse. Most of the time, they do a good job but other times they overreach so much that they act like CPS Nazis taking children from homes of parents for no good reason. It may be because they don't like the families parenting philosophy, other times, the CPS workers make up "facts" to take children from the families and then there are times CPS takes kids just because they can.
Now comes another story of CPS Nazis in Ohio- From Yahoo News: An Ohio third-grader who weighs more than 200 pounds has been taken from his family and placed into foster care after county social workers said his mother wasn't doing enough to control his weight.
The Plain Dealer reports (http://bit.ly/t68M7D ) that the Cleveland 8-year-old is considered severely obese and at risk for such diseases as diabetes and hypertension.
The case is the first state officials can recall of a child being put in foster care strictly for a weight-related issue.
Lawyers for the mother say the county overreached when authorities took the boy last week. They say the medical problems he is at risk for do not yet pose an imminent danger.

A spokeswoman says the county removed the child because caseworkers saw his mother's inability to reduce his weight as medical neglect. http://news.yahoo.com/ohio-puts-200-pound-third-grader-foster-care-191032515.html
What utter BS. Yeah, the kid is overweight, so what. Probably 60% of kids that age are overweight. And what is the cause of kid being overweight? Glandular, genetic, or the kid just eats too much. The mom can only deal with the last one, eating too much.
Even if the mom allows her kid to eat too much, what business is it of the government? It isn't. This a case where CPS workers have decided that they don't care about the parent(s) or the kid's rights. They think they know best and they are going to impose their will on the family, even though the kid is not forcibly taken away from his mom and put into foster care.
Stupid CPS Nazis.

LVRJ Hit Piece On Valley Cops

The Las Vegas Review Journal has begun a 5 day hit piece on Las Vegas Valley cops and the shootings they have been involved.
While they rightfully look into some questionable shootings, they also bring in Monday morning quarterbacks who say they would do something different than the cops who did the shooting. Of course these Monday morning quarterbacks have had at least a couple of years to think about the shootings while the officers only had mere seconds or less to decide whether to shoot or not.
One example: Police are often reluctant to second-guess the actions of another officer, at least publicly. But some cases split the thin blue line just as they do the public.
One such case was the 2009 fatal shooting of 15-year-old Tanner Chamberlain.
Wayne Peterson, a former Las Vegas police homicide lieutenant, said he would not have pulled the trigger on the mentally ill teenager, who was holding a knife in front of his mother when Las Vegas officer Derek Colling shot him in the head.
"I couldn't live with myself," Peterson said of the thought. The killing, one of two by Colling, was ruled justified by a Clark County coroner's inquest jury.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/deadly-force/always-justified/to-shoot-or-not-shoot-is-quandary-for-veteran-rookie-officers-134253878.html
Are you kidding me? The thug who got killed was holding a knife to his mom's head. No one there, even the mother, knew what was going to happen. What if the thug kid slit his mother's throat? Then everyone would be saying that the cops didn't do enough. Further, the kid had many chances to put down the knife and he didn't.
Now, there have been some questionable shootings like the Trevon Cole and Erik Scott shootings and the shooting in Henderson that killed the wife of an ice cream man- those shootings I did have problems with and still do.
But the LVRJ has decided to rip all Valley cops and that is wrong. 99% of the shootings are completely justified and less than 1% questionable.
Being a cop in Vegas is a tough job and now the LVRJ just made it tougher.

Obama's EPA Killing Jobs

From the Washington Examiner: Anybody who wonders why the U.S. economy continues to stagger along with 9 percent unemployment and an anemic 2 percent quarterly growth rate need look no further than the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Under President Obama's hand-picked administrator, Lisa Jackson, EPA is hog-tying the economy with dozens of proposed major new rules. One of them, which is aimed at coal-fired power plants that generate electricity, will add at least $18 billion in compliance costs by 2020. As Kathleen White of the Texas Public Policy Center told the House Energy and Commerce Committee earlier this year, "never in its 40-year history has EPA promulgated -- at the same time -- so many costly new regulatory dictates. The rules on track to go into effect in the next three years could cost more than $1 trillion and result in hundreds of thousands of jobs lost."
It's not just the raft of new rules that is killing economic growth, however. Jackson and her EPA minions have been purposefully slow-walking the agency's already hideously complex process for approving permits in a crucial sector of the energy industry. Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., asked the EPA inspector general to review the agency's permitting process for surface mining permit applications in the Appalachian region over the last two years. The EPA IG found that of the 185 permit applications it identified, only 56, or less than one-third of the total, had been approved. Almost half of the 185 required at least 731 days for EPA to complete its evaluations. That compares with the 144 days EPA claims is its average evaluation period for all mining permit applications. At least a third of the 185 were simply withdrawn from consideration, presumably because the applicants despaired of ever getting a response from EPA.
The IG report confirmed Inhofe's prior suspicion that EPA has been "systematically slowing the pace of permit evaluations in Appalachia. Even more troubling is that as our nation works to find ways to cut our national debt, EPA has increased its budget and staff to evaluate these permits. Instead of spending more and more taxpayer dollars to wage this war on affordable energy, the Obama-EPA should be processing and approving these permits to spur job creation, especially in areas such as the Appalachia that have significant employment needs. Equally important is the potential domestic energy production that these permits would provide."
Read more at the Washington Examiner: http://washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/editorials/2011/11/obamas-epa-killing-economy-costly-rules#ixzz1etHE1PDy
When people say that a president cannot do much to help or harm the economy, they are wrong. The president and his administration can make it easier or harder for businesses to hire people by adding regulations or removing regulations. Obama and his administration have decided to make things tougher to hire people- they have put the environment first and jobs and people second.
And Obama is not the only killing jobs. Here in Nevada, Crybaby Harry Reid has killed 2 coal fired power plants for Northern Nevada. These power plants would have hired several hundred, if not more, construction workers and about 200 permanent jobs at each location. Instead, Reid has put all of his eggs into the green energy plants and that has turned into a disaster. Very few plants Reid has introduced have actually begun work in Nevada and they employ far fewer workers than the coal fired plants. In addition, most green energy plants in Nevada are near or are bankrupt.
So, Obama has the power to create tens of thousands and yet he chooses to side with a few hundred radical environmentalists. Shame. Shame. Shame.

Cool Saturday Night, Hot Cajun Music

UNLV Defeats #1 North Carolina

From ESPN: The UNLV basketball team has its first signature victory in the Dave Rice era.
After all, it doesn’t get much better than knocking off the nation’s No. 1-ranked team.
The Rebels opened the second half Saturday with 14 unanswered points against top-ranked North Carolina at the Orleans Arena to erase a four-point halftime deficit, and never trailed the rest of the game in a 90-80 program-building victory.
The game was televised nationally by ESPN2, showing the nation the new-look Rebels under the first-year Rice. The Rebels, like Rice’s back-to-back Final Four teams in the early 1990s, put on a show.

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011/nov/26/live-blog-rebels-wearing-all-black-uniforms-ready-/
What really stinks for UNLV is that this game was not a sell out and they even played at the Orleans Arena which holds about 5000 people.
But congratulations to the Rebels for beating the number 1 team in pretty convincing fashion. This will help the program and now, if they can do something for the football team, then we would actually have a decent athletic program.

Badgers Dominate Penn State

From ESPN: Reeling after back-to-back losses took them out of the national championship picture a month ago, running back Montee Ball and Wisconsin (No. 16 BCS, No. 15 AP) have rallied for a spot in the Big Ten title game and a shot at the Rose Bowl.
And as Ball makes a run at the NCAA's single-season touchdown record, the Badgers just might be grooming a late-blooming Heisman Trophy contender.
Ball scored four more touchdowns and Wisconsin routed Penn State (No. 19 BCS, No. 20 AP) 45-7 on Saturday. With the win, Wisconsin will play Big Ten Legends division winner Michigan State in Indianapolis next Saturday.

"We had a group of men in our room that we knew would take one day at a time to get to where we wanted to be," Badgers coach Bret Bielema said. "They started on a process to get through the last four weeks. Bottom line: We won a trophy today to earn a way to Indianapolis and can't wait to get there."
Wisconsin went into the season promoting quarterback
Russell Wilson for the Heisman, but recently added a push for Ball. Ball has scored 34 touchdowns this season for the Badgers (10-2, 6-2 Big Ten), the second-most in a single season in NCAA history. Barry Sanders holds the record, scoring 39 for Oklahoma State in 11 games in the 1988 season.
Can Ball break it?
"Whatever the offensive line wants," Ball said. "If they want me to get there, then I'll get there. But I'm really looking forward to that, it's an entire offensive achievement, it's going to be a great feeling if I do break it."
He finished with 156 yards on 25 carries.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=313300275
This season for the Badgers is a season of what if's. What if the Badgers defended against the Hail Mary play against Michigan State like they were supposed to? What if the Badger's special teams and defense didn't let down in the final minute of the Ohio State game? What if we had a better football coach than Bret Bielma?
And it is a shame that Russell Wilson and Monte Ball are not being considered for the Heisman trophy right now. What better 1-2-3 combination is better than Wilson, Ball and Nick Toon is there in the country?
Hopefully, the Badgers will win next week against Michigan State and make a return trip to Pasadena and the Rose Bowl.
Too bad we won't be playing for the national title though. The Badgers had their chances.

NBA Lock Over?

From ESPN: Whether the handshake agreement the owners and players reached early Saturday morning on a new labor deal is ratified remains to be seen, but the players apparently did win some concessions on vital system issues -- including the split of basketball-related income -- that prompted union leaders to reject the previous offer without a vote, league sources said.
NBPA executive director Billy Hunter told players Saturday night in a memo obtained by ESPN that the first step would be incorporating the new deal points into a litigation settlement agreement early next week. "The NBA will then re-form as a union," Hunter wrote, "and negotiations may take place on various other CBA issues. The players will then vote to ratify a new CBA."
Hunter's memo also informed players that their share of BRI from the 2011-12 season will be 51.2 percent.

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7283065/sources-nba-owners-relented-several-key-issues
This sounds good but...
The players' union, which disclaimed shortly before the suit was filed, would have to be reconstituted. The labor proposal would then have to be put to a vote and a simple majority of the league's 440-plus players would have to approve it. That process could take several days or up to a week, commissioner David Stern indicated.
The tricky part at this point, one source said, is that only broad, basic tenets of a new deal have been agreed to by both sides and none of it has been committed to paper. One potential stumbling block is that when it comes to committing the entire deal to writing, disagreements on what was said and mutually accepted could arise. There's also a host of secondary elements.
The owners also apparently relented on several other demands in the previous offer that were not mentioned in the summary proposal the league made available to various media outlets. According to a source, the owners also wanted to eliminate the opt-out clauses for players making above the league average salary.
The owners also abandoned reducing minimum salaries and the first year of rookie contracts by 12 percent in the handshake agreement, sources said.

My guess is that there will several owners who don't like this proposal and would rather not even have a season. If they did have a season, these owners will lose more money.
My guess is that the union will accept the offer but of course nothing has been put in writing, so anything can happen.
I'm not holding my breath that this lockout has been resolved because too many things can happen between now and the players and owners voting like player's agents butting into the process.
But I do hope they play ball soon so that the people who work at the games like the ushers, vendors, ball boys etc will be able to make some money. This will also help the other businesses that benefit from pro basketball like the casino's sport betting operations, bars near the arenas, parking lots and anyone else who benefits from pro ball. As far as the owners and players, I couldn't care less.

The Real Story Behind The Tear Gassing At U.C Davis

From the rightscoopp: Elli Pearson, one of the Occupy protesters who was pepper-sprayed by police at UC-Davis, admitted to “Democracy Now!” that the protesters locked arms and sat down to surround the police, who were actually trying to leave the campus. The protesters then told the police that if they wanted to leave, they’d have to clear a path through the protesters.
Well we were protesting together and the riot cops came at us and we linked arms and sat down peacefully to protest their presence on our campus. And then at one point they were – we had encircled them and they were trying to leave and they were trying to clear a path. And so we sat down, linked arms and said that if they wanted to clear the path they would have to go through us. But we were on the ground, you know, heads down and all I could see was people telling me to cover my head, protect myself and put my head down. And the next thing I know we were pepper-sprayed.
http://www.therightscoop.com/uc-davis-occupy-protester-admits-they-provoked-police-in-pepper-spray-incident/
So, the U.C. Davis cops are being thrown under the bus because of why? The protesters surrounded the police, threatened the cops and the cops shoot some tear gas to get of the bad situation.
Nope, don't feel sad for these Occupiers at all. They asked to be tear gassed and they got it. And now they are crying and meanwhile the cops who are part of the 99% are suspended and maybe missing a paycheck because of these thugs.
Shame. Shame. Shame on the protesters.

Wow, This A Mind Blowing Editorial

On Black Friday, the Las Vegas Sun took on a tough stance in their editorial. Was it about the horrible economy? Was it about the horrible unemployment problems? Is it about the dirty tricks in Henderson about how Harry Reid is trying to get his son the city attorney's job, despite the fact his son doesn't meet the basic qualifications? How about the epic failue of the Occupy Las Vegas.
Well, all of those would be a nice editorial. /but the Las Vegas Sun choses to run an editorial on the National Finals Rodeo. From the Sun: To: Our readers
From: Sun editorial board
Re: The National Finals Rodeo
In just a few days, Las Vegas puts on its hat and boots and becomes the epicenter of the cowboy universe. The National Finals Rodeo, the hallmark event of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, opens on Thursday at the Thomas & Mack Center and runs for 10 days.
We’ve heard people question why the rodeo comes to town — that the Mojave Desert isn’t exactly the heart of cowboy country.
Why Las Vegas? Why not Las Vegas?
The city has plenty of hotel space, provides top-notch entertainment and offers an arena that provides a good venue for rodeo. And the crowds enjoy the amenities, including the hotels, restaurants, clubs and the massive Cowboy Christmas gift show.
Since 1985, the NFR has called Las Vegas home. However, there is a question about whether it will continue to do so. The NFR’s contract in Las Vegas is up after the 2014 rodeo, and other cities with major stadiums — like Arlington, Texas, with Jerry Jones’ new gleaming palace — would love to lure the NFR away.
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011/nov/25/nfr-las-vegas-cowboy-town-usa/
Wow, what a hard hitting editorial.

How Cool Is This

From ABC News: It was an overcast day in Newport, N.H., when a simple “20/20″ shoot turned into something that made me wonder about life after death.
I was filming soldier Justin Rollin’s parents Skip and Rhonda playing with their dog Hero,
whose rescue from the Iraq War zone where Justin died was nothing short of a miracle.
Sometimes when Rhonda hugged Hero she would softly pet her face and coo, “Justin, are you in there?” It was Rhonda’s gentle way of remembering their son and his last living connection to Hero. At one point, Hero wandered off and took a stroll in the backyard. All of a sudden, the clouds broke and a light began to solidify in a beam directly down on Hero — a kind of vertical halo.
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2011/11/not-photoshopped-beam-of-light-shines-on-fallen-soldiers-miracle-dog/

This is another reason to believe in life after death.

LVRJ: Dirty Reid Politics In Henderson

From the LVRJ: The appointment of a new city attorney is usually as controversial as a Citizen of the Month award. But when the name Reid is involved, the dynamics quickly change.
The city of Henderson officially posted its city attorney position Aug. 11 to replace Elizabeth Quillin, who lost the job after being convicted of drunken driving. In that posting, the minimum requirements were 10 years of experience as an attorney, with five years in the public sector.
Enter attorney Josh Reid, the son of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. At the time of the posting, Josh Reid did not have 10 years of experience and had not worked as a government lawyer at all.
But just before the Sept. 6 application deadline, his powerful father called council members to advocate for his son's application. The city later reduced the minimum requirements for the job. Going forward, the city demanded only eight years of work as an attorney. Experience in the public sector was no longer mandatory, but "highly desirable."
Of the six semifinalists picked from 46 applicants, only Josh Reid failed to meet the original standards. He was the least-experienced attorney among the semifinalists. And yet he was named a finalist, along with interim City Attorney Christine Guerci-Nyhus, who has 11 years in private practice and eight years in government. Among those failing to make the cut: Luke Puschnig, the longtime counsel for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, licensed to practice in Nevada for 21 years.
City of Henderson officials deny that Josh Reid's last name or his father's phone calls had anything to do with the extension of the application deadline, the rewriting of the job's minimum qualifications or Josh Reid's advancement through the process. The council is expected to make a decision Tuesday.
http://www.lvrj.com/opinion/city-attorney-search-134483788.html
Now, I didn't know this: the City of Henderson decided to change the job qualifications so that Josh Reid could apply.
While Reid may have a better academic record than the others candidate, this doesn't equate to being the best qualified person for the job. Reid's work record consists of being an environmental attorney. Suing on the behalf of the birds, bees, deer or trees is not exactly the same as being a city attorney. You need to have experience negoiating contracts, give advice to the mayor and council, read contracts, make sure the council and mayor obey the law when it comes to meetings, determine if a proposed law is constitutional and many other duties.
Simply put, if Josh Reid is hired, then we need to recall the council members who voted for him. This is a travesty of justice and it involves a city council that appears to have been bought off or intimidated.
And to my Council member, Debra March, I only have 1 word for you if you vote for Josh Reid: Recall

Here Is The reason Why Green Bay Packers Are 11-0

Detroit Lion's defensive end, Ndamukong Suh is a thug and on Thanksgiving, he showed why he is considered to be a dirty player.
Early in the 3rd quarter, the Packers were stopped on a 3rd down and were going to kick a chip shot field goal. But instead, Suh decided to see what it was like to stomp grapes as his next job when he decided to stomp on Green Bay Packers guard Evan Dietrich-Smith right shoulder. Suh decided to do this on Thanksgiving Day, one of the most watched regular season football games. Suh was then ejected from the game.
Instead of the Packers being up 10-0, the Lions then trailed 14-0 and they basically lost the pressure on the quarterback, Aaron Rogers, with Suh's ejection.
After that, the Packers were not rushed and they could pass at will against the Lions.
So, with the ejection of Suh, he will face a huge fine and suspension of at least 1 game, but my guess 2-3 games. He has been fined numerous times in his short 2 season career, so just fining him will do nothing, he needs to be suspended.
Yes, I realize that suspending Suh would hurt the team, but if the coaches and veterans had done their job and talked to Suh about his behavior, then this incident probably never would have happened.
And if you think the Lion's fans are sticking up for Suh, I have visited a couple of newspaper comments section from the Detroit papers and their fans are livid and they don't support Suh. Most think he ought to be suspended and these are the Lions fans.
So this Packer fan along with many other Packer fans say a hearty thank you to Ndamukong Suh for his thuggish behavior and guaranteeing another Packer victory. And I hope Suh enjoys the next 2-3 weekends off so he can think of other ways to embarrass himself and the Lions.
So, in honor of Suh and his stomping I give you this clip:

Why CCSD Needs To Outsource

CCSD (Clark County School District) has a lot of employees on it's payroll and it's just not administrators, teachers, aides, cafeteria workers, custodians and secretaries who work at the schools. CCSD also employs painters, plumbers, electricians, landscape/gardeners, bus drivers, truck drivers, general maintenance workers, fire aarm specialists, air conditioning specialists, bus aides, nurses, nurse aides, heavy equipment operators, water truck drivers, police officers and many other positions.
Well, in the middle of September of this school year, a cooler pipe broke and it flooded at least 6 classrooms, so much so, that the rooms had to be completely redone. This includes the floors, walls plumbing and electrical outlets.
The first few days, CCSD hired an outside contractor to clean up the mess. They tore out the carpeting, parts of some walls, disconnected some electrical outlets and a few other odds and ends.
They then turned the rehabilitation project over to CCSD employees- plumbers, painters, electricians and a few other departments.
It is now almost December and the work still has not been complete. The plumbing is not hooked up, the electrical outlets are hanging and work still has to be done on the walls.
This broken pipe closed down a photography room which has a dark room, 3 art rooms, a special education room and a regular classroom. One of the classes that was suppose to be taught is ceramics and that class has been basically discontinued. Instead of working in their classrooms, the teachers have to teach in portable classrooms. While the classrooms are ok, you cannot adequately teach art or photography in the portable classrooms. There is no room in the portables to work when you have a class size of 30-40 students.
There is no reason why the work has not been done and if the had been contracted out to private businesses instead letting CCSD employees do the job, the job would have been done in a couple of weeks instead of 10+ weeks and counting.
So, it is time to consider talking about contracting out services CCSD. CCSD doesn't need to be in the business of electrical, plumbing, painting and dry walling. By contracting out, not only will CCSD save money, it will certainly do the jobs faster, if not better if they use private contractors.

In Honor Of The Deer Hunting Season In Wisconsin

Yep, sometimes the deer wins.

Occupy Las Vegas Attacks Best Buy In Henderson

There is a large group of Occupy Las Vegas outside the Henderson Best Buy, near Marks and Sunset.

Oh, wait, it's just a bunch of kids/geeks camping out in anticipation of Black Friday. But hey, they have more kids camping out than those camping out at Occupy Las Vegas encampment.

A Riddle

Question: What does the Las Vegas minor league baseball team and me have in common?

Answer: The baseball team is named the Las Vegas 51's and I turn 51 on Thanksgiving.
Sigh. I'm the old fart now- the old fart I used to make fun of. Sigh.

So, Why Wasn't This Reported Earlier?

Until today, I didn't know that there was a GOP state senator running for Congress in the CD4 district.
On November 10, State Sen. Barbara Cegavske announced that she was going to run for Congress.
Today, November 23, 2011, the Pahrump Valley Times finally got around to announce the campaign run. Almost 2 weeks passed and the PVA finally decides to run the story?
From the PVT: The Republicans have a well-known candidate now in the race for the new Congressional District 4 seat: State Sen. Barbara Cegavske, from Las Vegas, the assistant Senate minority leader.
Two Democrats from North Las Vegas announced they would run for the position: State Sen. Steven Horsford and State Sen. John Lee. Democrats hold a 45.8 percent to 33.2 percent advantage among registered voters in the district.
Lee’s campaign announced Monday he was pulling out of the race, in a prepared statement Lee said Horsford was a great candidate and the Democrats were focused on getting U.S. Rep. Shelly Berkeley elected to the Senate, Democrats elected to Congress and keeping their majority in the state Legislature.
The fourth congressional district includes all of Nye, Esmeralda, Lincoln, Mineral and White Pine counties along with a part of Clark County north of Lake Mead Boulevard in Las Vegas and southern Lyon County.
Nye and Esmeralda counties have been in congressional district 2 since it was created, which included areas in the state outside of Las Vegas and has always been represented by a Republican. A fourth congressional district was created after the 2010 census.

http://pvtimes.com/news/prominent-republican-enters-race-for-congressional-district/
Of course, this is probably better than what the Las Vegas Sun did- they hid this story on their web site. This story was written by Annjeanette Damon and that has been the only time the Sun has assigned a staff writer to write about her.
So, maybe the media is trying to hide the fact that State Sen. Barbara Cegavske is running. Maybe they realize that her opponent, Stephen Horsford of Las Vegas is full of scandals- parking in handicapped places when not handicapped, lying about his lack of a college degree and doing a piss poor job running the Senate. Even the liberals don't like Horsford because they believed that he sucked up to the GOP and Gov. Brian Sandoval. When the liberals demanded higher taxes and he wanted to raise taxes, but he couldn't find the votes.
So, what took so long for the PVT to run the article? Why did the PVT wait almost 2 weeks before they printed her announcement? Maybe the PVT has just a wee bit of bias?

Thunderbirds May Have Flown Their Last Show

From the LVRJ: Questions surfaced Wednesday about defense budget cuts affecting the Thunderbirds air demonstration team at Nellis Air Force Base after news out of Florida that the Navy's Blue Angels team might face cutbacks.
Speculation about cutbacks to public shows put on by the Blue Angels, the Thunderbirds and the Army's Golden Knights paratroopers swirled as the Pentagon looks for ways to trim $450 billion over the next decade.
A spokesman for the Thunderbirds, known in Air Force circles as "America's Ambassadors in Blue," responded to the story by The Associated Press at Pensacola Naval Air Station, Fla. The story, citing military analyst Loren Thompson, said it is possible that spending for the Blue Angels, the Thunderbirds and other military promotional programs could be curtailed under a larger umbrella bill as Congress and the administration look for ways to cut federal spending.
In an email response to the Review-Journal, a Thunderbirds spokesman said the demonstration team, like other Air Force programs, is not immune from budget cut consideration in light of "tough challenges to meet savings goals."

http://www.lvrj.com/news/budget-woes-may-steal-thunder-of-air-force-aerial-team-134435673.html
If the Thunderbirds, Blue Angels, Golden Knights and I suppose NASCAR and Indy car sponsorships, which will also be up for budget cuts, it will hurt in recruiting and show people the professionalism of the Air Force
And there only 2 people responsible for this: Crybaby Reid and Barack Obama. Reid and Obama do not like the military and they have constantly disrespected the military.- they want a smaller military and a weaker military. They are thrilled that there will be huge budget cuts because of Reid's failure of the budget cutting committee.
So, November 13, 2011 may have been the performance for the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds at Nellis AFB. and this will also cost several Las Vegans their jobs.
Thanks Crybaby Reid and President Obama.

Say What?

Yahoo News: The leader of a breakaway Amish group allowed the beatings of those who disobeyed him, made some members sleep in a chicken coop and had sexual relations with married women to "cleanse them," federal authorities said Wednesday as they charged him and six others with hate crimes in hair-cutting attacks against other Amish.
Several members of the group carried out the attacks in September, October and November by forcibly cutting the beards and hair of Amish men and women and then taking photos of them, authorities said.
Cutting the hair is a highly offensive act to the Amish, who believe the Bible instructs women to let their hair grow long and men to grow beards and stop shaving once they marry. One victim told the FBI he would rather have been "beaten black and blue than to suffer the disfigurement and humiliation of having his hair removed," according to court papers....

The attacks had terrorized Amish communities, Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla said at a news conference Wednesday.
"You've got Amish all over the state of Ohio and Pennsylvania and Indiana that are concerned. We've received hundreds and hundreds of calls from people living in fear," he said. "They are buying Mace, some are sitting with shotguns, getting locks on their doors because of Sam Mullet."
http://news.yahoo.com/fbi-arrests-7-amish-haircut-attacks-ohio-153051950.html
The cops received hundreds of calls from the Amish? The Amish who don't have telephones?
Ummm, ok.
And the Amish are totally against violence, so why would they be buying Mace and sitting with shotguns? The Amish would rather turn the other cheek than engage in violence.
I thinks the Sheriff is engaging in a bit of hyperbole.

What A Strange Circle

I am watching Hills Street Blues on Nuvo TV. Nuvo TV is a Latino cable tv station.
Hills Street Blues ran from 1981-87 and of course is an English speaking shows.
However, it seems like someone translated the English version into a Spanish version and then back again and now the lips to words are off and some of the characters don't sound the same.
I don't think there is anything more irriatating in watching TV show when the lips don't match the words coming out the actors mouth.
And it really sucks when one of my favorite shows, Hill Street Blues, is affected by the lips moving when there are no words coming out of it.
But here is a nice clip with everything in place:

You may recognize the customer- she played a bailiff on Night Court.

Amodei Is Right

From the Las Vegas Sun: Acknowledging he’ll be labeled as “insensitive,” U.S. Rep. Mark Amodei, R-Nev., said this week he is inclined to let long-term unemployment benefits expire, a move that could kick more than 45,000 jobless Nevadans off of their unemployment checks.
When Congress resumes session after the Thanksgiving holiday it will take up the question of whether to extend funding for long-term unemployment benefits. Amodei said he could vote ‘no’ on the measure.
“I’m going to look real critical at it,” he said this week during a taping for To the Point. “I’m inclined, depending on what’s in the bill, to say at some point in time you have to say, 'I’m sorry you can’t just keep extending it.' And this could very well be it.”
Nevada has the highest unemployment rate in the nation at 13.4 percent. More than 45,000 jobless Nevadans are on federal unemployment benefit extensions. Those benefits will end if Congress doesn’t extend the program.
But Amodei said he’s concerned that the continuing unemployment check—Nevadans are eligible for up to 99 weeks of unemployment checks—is preferable to being employed.
“I am concerned when I talk to employers in the community who say they are offering jobs but the deal on unemployment is better,” Amodei said. “I’m not saying that sweepingly applies to everyone, but when you talk about being on government benefits is a better deal than being in the workforce, I think you have to examine that.”
Amodei said he realizes he’ll be labeled as uncaring for that position.
“I know the clichés will come out (that) you’re insensitive” he said. “But you know what, you have to move beyond spending money.”
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011/nov/23/amodei-government-cant-keep-paying-unemployment-be/
Many states including Nevada have had to borrow hundreds of millions of dollars from the Fed's to pay unemployment compensation. Then the unemployment compensation is picked up by the Feds and that costs billions of dollars to the taxpayers by tax money or loans from China and other investors.
But if a person cannot find a job in 99 weeks, then there is something seriously wrong. I can understand if a person has a disability or is an older worker, they may have troubles finding a job, but even those people can find a basic job.
And there is no reason why a person cannot find a job at Wal-Mart, 7-11, McDonald's, a job in security or many other types of jobs out there for someone willing to work.
So, Mark Amodei is right and the majority in his district probably agree with him as well. And to the liberals out there, if 99 weeks of unemployment is not enough, at what point do you finally cut off unemployment compensation?

Help Wanted: NBA PlayersTo Worrk At Pawn Stars Shop

From the Las Vegas Sun: If the “Pawn Stars” posse has its way, customers could soon buy electronics from LeBron James or sell watches to Carmelo Anthony.
The team at Gold & Silver Pawn, the downtown pawn shop behind the History Channel’s
hit reality TV show, has come up with its latest stunt. They’re offering jobs to NBA players idled by the league’s lockout.
“Chum and I love basketball and wagering on the games,” said Corey Harrison, of the family that owns and operates the store. “We really miss the guys and the action and thought it might be fun to have them spend a day or more with us while they aren’t playing ball.”
The NBA and its players have been at odds since summer over revenue sharing and salary caps. A lockout led to cancellation of this year’s preseason games and the first six weeks of the regular season. Players have been out of work since July.
Some have signed contracts to play in foreign countries. Others have taken to doing community service. Several dozen
came to Las Vegas to polish their skills.
Richard Harrison, Gold & Silver Pawn’s patriarch, hopes their next job will be with him. “It seems they need a little help in their negotiation skills,” Harrison said. “Maybe I could give them a tip or two.”
http://www.vegasinc.com/news/2011/nov/23/pawn-stars-proprietors-offer-jobs-locked-out-nba-p/
Of course, they will be paid minimum wage, but the NBA players will certainly be experts on high end jewelry.

Watch For The Polls

I am going to experiment by having a weekly or so polls to see where people stand on the issues.
I urge you to vote, only if to makes me feel good and think people actually read what I write.
Thank you for your participation.

It's Almost Thanksgiving: Time To Get Your Turducken

One of these days/years, I m going buy or make one of these things- a Turducken.
And for those who don't know, a Turducken is a chicken stuffed a duck which is stuffed into a turkey. This could make a good main course and a lot of sandwich meat for the next month.

Former Planned Parenthood Employee Speaks Out

From the Washington Examiner: In 1997, I began working at a Boston Planned Parenthood clinic as a young, idealistic college student who strongly believed in what I had been told about the organization, that I would be helping other young women access safe and affordable health care.
But I quickly came to learn that the message Planned Parenthood advertised did not reflect reality. I was disillusioned by the betrayal that was perpetrated against patients and the public alike.
My time there was not spent providing prenatal care to pregnant women, providing counseling or basic health care services or educating women about reproductive health.
Instead, I spent my days urging women to terminate their pregnancies. My superiors constantly reminded me of our abortion-centered business model: abortions first, everything else came second.
I began to recognize their emphasis on performing abortions each time a woman would express concern or have second thoughts about having an abortion. When I notified management, though, they told me not to worry and encourage her decision to move ahead with the procedure.
Thankfully, the truth is being exposed. Sexual abuse of minor girls and exploitation of the poor and minorities is concealed or ignored, all in the name of more abortions.
Read more at the Washington Examiner: http://washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/op-eds/2011/11/planned-parenthood-lies-about-itself#ixzz1eVhBkBT3
This story is shocking but not surprising. Planned Parenthood is an abortion mill and this is how they make their money. Further, they prey on minority and poor women. Just look at the founder of Planned Parenthood and tapes that have come showing racism within Planned Parenthood.
And it's a shame that taxpayers help fund this horrible corporation at a tune of over $360,000,000.

The Food Network/Chopped Giving Away Free Advertising For Obama

Tonight, the Food Network and the show Chopped gave the Obamas, Michelle and Barack, a big sloppy kiss.
The Obama's and their campaign team were able to get the White House chef, Sam Kass and he was just full of the usual liberal platitudes while making campaign plugs for Obama.
Kass gave constant praise to Michelle Obama and her different programs- White House garden, nutritious foods, fat kids etc. He even had the gall saying that kids don't get food over the weekend from some families. If a family cannot feed their kids over a weekend, then CPS should be called- with food stamps, food donations, food banks, soup kitchens etc there is no excuse whatsoever for a family to starve over a weekend.
So, this must be a sign of things to come. First, we had Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden, the one with the brains of the Biden family, showing up at a NASCAR race this weekend. A couple of days later, the chef from the White House is on TV.
Pretty soon, we will see the garbage man for the White House on Dirty Jobs and the White House curator on Pawn Stars selling off White House furniture.

Henderson About Annoint Reid's Kid As City Attorney

The Henderson, NV. city council is anoint Cry Baby Harry Reid's son as city attorney.
From the LVRJ: The Henderson City Council on Nov. 29 will select its next city attorney during a special meeting that might draw more spectators than the council's fourth floor boardroom could comfortably hold.
One of the two finalists for the position, which pays between $126,000 and $199,000 a year, is Josh Reid, the son of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., who reportedly plugged his youngest son for the job in a September telephone call to Mayor Andy Hafen, according to recent comments Hafen made to Review-Journal columnist Jane Ann Morrison.
Hafen in Morrison's column published Monday acknowledged receiving a call from the elder Reid, who reportedly told Hafen Josh Reid would most likely be the most academically qualified of the candidates....

The other finalist is interim City Attorney Christine Guerci-Nyhus, who has been filling in for Elizabeth Quillin, who lost her job in August after pleading guilty to misdemeanor drunken driving charges.
Nyhus has 21 years experience as an attorney; Reid has 10 years.

http://www.lvrj.com/news/henderson-city-attorney-to-be-chosen-nov-29-134344058.html
So, in Crybaby Reid's world, being the most academically qualified attorney running for the job makes the person the most qualified? Are you serious, Crybaby Reid? Academics mean nothing- we (I am a Henderson resident) don't want a person who is more academically qualified. I want a person who has more real world experience. I want an city attorney who has experience in working for a city and in city government. Reid is an environmental attorney, not a city attorney. How he even got this far in the selection process is shocking in it's self.
If Reid is picked for the job, the fix was in from the beginning and the members of the Henderson, not only should be ashamed, they should be recalled. If they vote for Reid, it will show that the Henderson city council is not independent but sucks up to Harry Reid. When Reid says, they come running, lick Harry Reid's butt, perform oral sex on the man and then jump up and down praising Harry Reid's lack of accomplishments.
However, if the Henderson city council votes to approve the most qualified candidate, Christine Guerci-Nyhus, it will show the voters that they are independent and that they are strong enough to resist the bullying of Crybaby Reid.
We will soon see which way the Henderson city council wants to be percieved- lap dogs for Crybaby Reid or independent people.

No Wonder Dogs Are Man's Best Friend

From AOL: Lao Pan, an unmarried man without much family, found close companionship with his loyal dog. And even through tragedy, their steadfast bond lives on.
Pan lived in the Chinese village of Panjiatun, but died earlier this month at the age of 68. His furry friend was found by villagers at Pan's grave safeguarding the site
according to BBC News. The loyal pup refused to leave even after going seven days without food.
Sky News reports that since noticing the dog, villagers have been bringing food and water to the gravesite, and are even planning to build a kennel there for the dog to sleep in.
This dog's loyalty draws parallels to other famously loyal dogs,
Digital Journal points out, such as Hachiko, Japan's most faithful dog.

Brewers Ryan Braun NL MVP

Ryan Braun today won the NL MVP easily beating Matt Kemp.
From ESPN: Milwaukee's Ryan Braun won the NL Most Valuable Player Award on Tuesday after helping lead the Brewers to their first division title in nearly 30 years.
The left fielder received 20 of 32 first-place votes and 388 points in voting announced by the Baseball Writers' Association of America.
"I'm not going to pretend like I wasn't anxious or nervous because I was," said Braun, who was sitting on the balcony of his home in Malibu, Calif., when he received the call that he had won. "I was obviously thrilled, excited. It's honestly difficult to put into words how much this means to me.
Los Angeles center fielder
Matt Kemp, who came close to winning the Triple Crown, received 10 first-place votes and finished with 332 points. Braun's teammate Prince Fielder finished third with 229 points, and Arizona's Justin Upton finished fourth with 214 points. Fielder and Upton each received one first-place vote.
St. Louis'
Albert Pujols finished fifth. It was the 11th straight year the three-time MVP was in the top 10 in balloting.
http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/7269575/ryan-braun-milwaukee-brewers-wins-nl-mvp
It's a great win for Braun and the Brewers. But you really have to wonder about the intelligence of some of the writers by making Albert Pujols 5th in balloting after he was out over a month because of a broken arm.
So, congratulations to the Braun and the Brewers have Braun locked up in a contract until 2020, so the Brewers will have many more MVP years to come.

Tony Stewart's Dead Weight Gone?

From ESPN: Addington is believed to be headed to Stewart-Haas Racing to become the crew chief for three-time champion Tony Stewart, multiple sources said. Stewart informed Darian Grubb during the Chase that Grubb would not be returning in 2012.
"We're looking at all of our options right now," Stewart said during Tuesday's NASCAR conference call. "After we get through with all the media obligations today, I'll go back to the shop and we'll get together and try to come up with a decision. We already know some options that are available. We'll sit down and see what we think is the best option and decision for the company."

http://espn.go.com/racing/nascar/cup/story/_/id/7269503/steve-addington-no-longer-crew-chief-kurt-busch
That's a shame that Grubb won't be returning to Stewart's pit box but I am sure he will find employment somewhere in NASCAR.
Unfortunately, there will be a lot of NASCAR employees looking for jobs this winter because a lot of teams are cutting back to save on expenses and the lack of sponsorships.
Perhaps if NASCAR was more exciting overall and the drivers weren't either a cardboard stickman like Matt Kenseth, Jeff Gordon or Carl Edwards or certified lunatics like the Busch brothers, then they would have higher ratings. But sitting at home, it was boring to watch many of the races and some times it was so bad that I would fall asleep during the race.
So, obviously the question remains- who or what was Tony Stewart's dead weight? Was it an employee or a girl friend or a car or car part? Maybe he will say what it is in Las Vegas during Champions week.

There Must be Stupid In The Busch Brothers Genes: Kurt Yells At Reporter

On Sunday, Kurt Busch ripped into Dr. Jerry Punch because they could not do an interview on Kurt Busch's time.
Busch, both of them, have to realize they lucky to be where they are- NASCAR race drivers racing on national TV. They are lucky to have sponsors willing to pay for the sponsor's name on their car.
But no, Kurt Busch thinks he is too big to wait 10 minutes to be interviewed. What stupidity. what a baby.

Watch out for the language.

Russia Newscaster Flips Off Obama

I'm not sure if this video was doctored or not, but it is funny. It's a Russian news anchor babe flipping off President Obama while giving the news. Classic:

Milwaukee Radio Talk Show Host Racist?

He used to to be my favorite talk show host when I lived in Wisconsin but now, I sense that Mark Belling is being racist when he says that Herman Cain is not smart enough to be president, and he has said this several times.
I'm not sure, but does he say that about the other GOP candidates?
But Hermann Cain not being smart enough to be president? Please. Compared to who? He certainly is smarter than Obama, who needs a teleprompter to to talk and when he doesn't, he makes some huge mistakes. And Obama's handling of the economy, Mid East, allies and other problems the U.S. faces certainly make Obama look very smart.
He certainly smarter than most people because Cain has run businesses and has brought back businesses that were in serious trouble.
He is certainly smarter than Rick Perry and Mitt Romney. Perry because of his stances on immigration and parental rights. Romney because of Romney Care.
Is Cain the smartest person in the United States. But not smart enough? Hardly.
So, why is Belling who, by the way, fills in for Rush Limbaugh from time to time, saying this? I really don't know. Does he favor another candidate more? That's fine, but that's not a reason to say someone is not smart enough to be president.
I'm not the type to call someone a racist for the hell of it, like many liberals do. But in this case, unless there is a specific reason why Belling believes Cain is not smart enough to be president, I have to think race comes into play.
How disappointing because I liked listening to Belling on 1130 WISN radio out of Milwaukee via the Internet.

Occupy Las Vegas Gets 3 Month Extension. Why?

From the LVRJ: A three-month extension that will allow Occupy Las Vegas to remain at its encampment near the Thomas & Mack Center until Feb. 20 is coming under fire by some Clark County commissioners who disapprove of the group's protest last week.
County management signed off on the additional 90 days Friday, one day after 21 protesters were arrested for stopping traffic on northbound Las Vegas Boulevard in front of the federal courthouse.
County management said that the meeting with protesters to extend the permit was scheduled before officials knew the protest was taking place and that more time was needed to better assess the project.
Occupy Las Vegas is a local chapter of the Occupy Wall Street movement against corporate greed and influence in politics.
Commissioner Steve Sisolak said the board should discuss the permit at a future meeting to figure out what happens once it expires.
"I was really disappointed at the civil disobedience part," Sisolak said. "They absolutely told me that wasn't going to occur, which is why I was supportive of the idea. ... I was unaware there was even an extension applied for until I found out it was already granted."
http://www.lvrj.com/news/occupy-las-vegas-extension-comes-under-fire-134307668.html
So now, can any protest group come to the Clark County commissioners and demand a free track of land to protest for 4 or more months? What if the Westboro Church from Kansas came in and demanded a place to sleep and plan their protests and they want it for free? Sounds like Clark County is now on the hook for making land available to protest groups and other groups as well..
How about a pro-life group? Maybe they want a staging place to hang out before they go to the abortion clinics in the Valley and protest. Seems like Clark County has to give them a place to do that as well.
And why should it stop there? How about the County giving land for free to someone who wants to start a business, now they should get some free land.
How about other non-profits- I think, because of what they did with Occupy Las Vegas, they are obligated to give free land to these folks. How about some nice land on the Strip for Opportunity Village? How about some free land for the GOP and the Dem's?
It also seems that the County bureaucrats kept this arrangement secret until after fact and for those that did ought to be reprimanded, with maybe a suspension for hiding this from the public.
The Occupy groups were fun way back when, but all around the U.S., the Occupy thugs are being kicked out of their habitats, but of course, in Clark County, they are doing the opposite.

Nice Shot

From the LVRJ: A son checking on his father's home in the northern valley interrupted a burglary and shot and wounded the burglar Monday night, Las Vegas police said.
The incident occurred at 6:19 p.m. at a home on the 6600 block of North Tenaya Way, near Ann Road, said Lt. Hans Walters.
Walters said the son checked on his father's home and saw signs of a burglary. The father was away.
The son saw the burglar who had a flashlight and possibly a weapon. He shot the intruder once in the leg.
Walters said the suspect fled, leaving a blood trail. As of 8:30 p.m., police were searching the nearby desert area for a suspect.
Walters said the man who shot the intruder appeared to be within his legal rights to do so.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/son-checks-father-s-home-shoots-burglar-who-escapes-134300943.html
This area is a mix of good neighborhoods surrounded by formerly nice areas but have gone ghetto.
My guess that this thug burglar will be caught, literally dead or alive. If they don't catch him, he will probably bleed out. Either way, nice shot by the son and I am sure more than 1 cop said good job and another argument for concealed carry.

First, It Was Hunting Shows....

Now cooking shows are getting into shock TV when they show the killing/slaughter of animals that are used in their shows.
On Gordon Ramsey's The F Show, they showed the killing of a baby calf at a slaughter house. They showed the cow getting zapped and then the draining of the blood and carving of the body.
On Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations, they showed Bourdain killing a pig with a head shot and then skinning and carving up the pig and then played with the pig's head.
Why? Shock value? There isn't any real educational or entertainment value, so they must do it for the shock value.
The decay of TV continues.

Pawn Star Review: November 21, 2011

It's been a nice quiet week here in Las Vegas. If you live in Las Vegas, last week is one of those weeks where you just wonder what the heck you are going to do. UNLV football sucks, so we don't pay attention to them. UNLV basketball is playing a bunch of patsies, so, we aren't paying much attention to them. The Las Vegas Wranglers, a minor league hockey team, is playing but most people don't even know we have a hockey team. There were no big concerts and the biggest media event was the turning on the cactus Christmas lights at Ethel M's chocolate factory. If you are in Vegas, it's a nice thing to see, though it just doesn't seem like Christmas out without any snow.
Another week of reruns for Pawn Stars.
The first episode was first aired on March 21, 2011: http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2011/03/pawn-stars-review-march-21-2011.html
The second episode was first aired on September 19, 2011 http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2011/09/pawn-stars-rview-september-19-2011.html Here's a hint- when Danny delivers the Indian motorcycle, look how pissed Cory and Rick look when they find out the price.
Well, have a nice week and Happy Thanksgiving. And to those shoppers out there, happy hunting on Black Friday.

Best And Worst Christmas Season Commercials So Far

Here are my picks so far for the best and worst TV commercials for Christmas
First, the best, by Acura and Gordon Ramsey:

And by far, the worst is the Target commercials that featured a cray blonde woman who would be better off in an institution than meeting her in the check out line. What were you thinking, Target?

Anybody else have nominations?

U.W. Harriers First In NCAA

The U.W. Men's Cross Country team finished first in the NCAA championships today.
From jsonoline: The University of Wisconsin-Madison's men cross country team won the NCAA Championship on Monday morning in Terre Haute, Ind.
The Badgers, ranked first in the NCAA poll, won their fifth title and first since 2005. The title was the first for coach Mick Byrne, in his fourth year at UW.
UW finished fourth in Byrne's first season (2008), seventh in '09 and fourth last season.
UW finished with 97 team points, 42 points ahead of two-time defending Oklahoma State (139). Colorado finished third with 144 points. BYU (203) and Stanford (207) rounded out the top five teams.
Mohammed Ahmed was the top finisher for UW, placing fifth. Four of UW's five runners were honored as All-Americans.
http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/134253243.html
The Wisconsin cross country teams, men and women, have always been strong and I remember watching some of the national championships when they were held in Madison, while I was a cross country runner at Wauwatosa East and Oconomowoc.
So, congratulations to the National Champions, the Wisconsin Badgers cross country team.

10-0, 16-0 But Not Easy

Best white receiver in the NFL (stolen from ESPN) Jordy Nelson.
The game was closer than the score and Tampa Bay covered the spread. A lot of people are going to lose a lot of money today.

Liberals Eating their Own-Not Really

Even though Matthews is ripping Obama, don't for a moment think that he would support anybody else except Obama. This is just a lame attempt to make Matthews look non-partisan.
Last week, Matthews went on a national radio show and he just blasted the GOP candidates and praised Obama. He basically said that the GOP weren't smart enough and couldn't publicly speak and Obama could and that is why Matthews likes Obama so much. So this is just another case of Matthews of trying to make himself relevant- kind of like Nevada's political commentator, Jon Ralston.

Tony Stewart Wins Sprint Championship In Exciting finish

In the closest NASCAR Sprint/Winston Cup Championship ever, Tony Stewart beat Carl Edwards by 0 points and won the tie breaker by winning 5 races in the Chase at Homestead FL.
Stewart was as low as 40th place and he had to pass 76 cars to and came in 1st place, beating Carl Edwards by about a second. His restarts were the best I have ever seen and he drives like a man possessed.
In Victory Lane, the rain started to pour, so the rain held off just in time to finish the rain.
Carl Edwards is a nice guy, but Tony Stewart is nice guy who also is very funny, so they have a great champion.
Stewart was the first owner/operator to win the championship since Wisconsin's Alan Kulwicki did it about 20 years ago.
Now, it's on to Las Vegas for the season ending party.

Michelle Obama Booed At NASCAR

Once again, NASCAR fans know more about politics than most everyone else, Michelle Obama was loudly booed while she gave the command for the drivers to start their engines.
Even though Obama hid behind a Afghanistan/Iraq veteran, who was loudly cheered, you could not miss the loud boo's by the crowd for Obama. Further, the command to start the engines were made, not in front of the stands, but in an area that looked like the garage or infield area.
As I asked before, what was NASCAR thinking when Obama was named the Grand Marshal of the last race of the season at Homestead? And how much money did us taxpayers have to pay for ths foolishness? The flight down to Florida, probably an ovenight stay, the Secret Service guarding Obama and the extra security needed to closesly screen the spectators is probably the tipof the iceberg in terms of costs.
This was just to done to boost Mrs. Obama's ego and try to help President Obama's re-election campaign and nothing more.

Update: From a post I did on 11-11-11: The White House is dispatching Michelle Obama to serve as Grand Marshal of the Nov. 20 season-ending NASCAR Ford 400, a move that seems clearly designed to woo NASCAR voters while also burnishing the first lady’s credentials as a regular gal.Mrs. Obama, who has incurred some bad publicity for taking luxurious jaunts to South Africa and Spain while often being photographed in expensive clothing and accoutrements, has lately been spotted shopping at Target and hanging out at the baseball park, attending the first game of the World Series. The NASCAR appearance is billed as part of the first lady’s “Joining Forces” initiative for military families, and Mrs. Obama’s Joining Forces co-chair, “Second Lady” Dr. Jill Biden, will also serve as Grand Marshal. The Ford 400 is held at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida. Florida is perhaps the most critical presidential battleground state in the country.

Occupiers Rap Sheet: Tea Partiers They're Not

President Obama: “I understand the frustrations being expressed in those protests,” Obama told ABC News senior White House correspondent Jake Tapper in the interview to air this evening on ABC News “Nightline” from Jamestown, N.C.
“In some ways, they’re not that different from some of the protests that we saw coming from the Tea Party. Both on the left and the right, I think people feel separated from their government. They feel that their institutions aren’t looking out for them,” he said.

Obama said the most important thing he can do as president is express solidarity with the protesters and redouble his commitment to achieving what he described as a more egalitarian society.
“The most important thing we can do right now is those of us in leadership letting people know that we understand their struggles and we are on their side, and that we want to set up a system in which hard work, responsibility, doing what you’re supposed to do, is rewarded,” Obama said. “And that people who are irresponsible, who are reckless, who don’t feel a sense of obligation to their communities and their companies and their workers that those folks aren’t rewarded.”
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/10/obama-occupy-wall-street-not-that-different-from-tea-party-protests/< So, the Tea Party is like the Occupy movement? From Biggovernment.com, who has compiled a list (302) of some the transgressions: NY: 10/1/2011 — Police Arrest More Than 700 Protesters on Brooklyn Bridge

http://biggovernment.com/jjmnolte/2011/10/28/occupywallstreet-the-rap-sheet-so-far/
And the Tea Party? From what I can see, no Tea Party member has been arrested at a Tea Party rally and there have been very few Tea Partiers arrested individually and those fools have been disowned by the Tea Party.
So, to those in the media, blogging world and the White House who think the Tea Party and the Occupy groups have things in common, simply put, they are brain damaged.

Gingrich On The Occupiers

Even though Newt Gingrich is the latest crazy flavor of the GOP presidential circus. and probably has little chance to win the GOP nomination or the presidency. But that still doesn't mean he doesn't know what he is talking about.
From the Huffington Post: Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich mocked the Occupy Wall Street protesters on Saturday, saying they need to "get a job" and "take a bath."
"All the Occupy movement starts with the premise that
we all owe them everything," Gingrich said at the Thanksgiving Family Forum in Iowa, as noted by Igor Volsky at ThinkProgress. "They take over a public park they didn't pay for, to go nearby to use bathrooms they didn't pay for, to beg for food from places they don't want to pay for, to obstruct those who are going to work to pay the taxes to sustain the bathrooms and to sustain the park, so they can self-righteously explain they are the paragons of virtue to which we owe everything."
"That is a pretty good symptom of how much the left has collapsed as a moral system in this country, and why you need to reassert something by saying to them, 'Go get a job right after you take a bath,'" continued Gingrich, to loud applause from the audience.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/19/newt-gingrich-occupy-wall-street-job-bath_n_1103172.html?icid=maing-grid7%7Chp-desktop%7Cdl1%7Csec3_lnk3%7C114266
The Occupy Movement has a lot of momentum, not because of their issues, so of which are legitimate, but because of their tactics, many of their beliefs and their behavior. With the exception of a few small town mayors, they have little support from politicians and probably 99% of the people. The Occupiers are really the 1%, the despicable 1%.
