Flood Update

It's the day after the great Las Vegas flood of 2012.  Or when we had a little water fall from the sky.
I realize, that in most areas of the country, and inch or two, even if it comes down in 45 minutes, is usually not a big thing.
But here in the desert, it makes a big difference because the ground is hard with hard dirt and not much grass to soak up the rain, so the rain just runs off of everything, creating big floods in the roadways.
The other problem, the Valley slopes from west down to the east, so, as you know, poop flows down hill and the same with water.  The east side got a lot of water from the downtown area, so that didn't help matters much.
So, because of the flood, there have been houses suffering some kind of flood damage, especially around the Sahara, east of the Nellis area.
Also, many cars have suffered damage.  My car's floor rug was soaked this morning, leaving a smell of must and smells of all the spills over the past 2 years, like milk.  Ahhh, the sweet smell of sour milk.  And now my fan belt squeaks as well.
I've been in several buildings today and all smelled musty and the school I teach at had no air conditioning.
Luckily, the vast majority of homes in Las Vegas don't have basements so flooded basements is not a worry we have.  The bugs are also seeking shelter out of the water and they are finding our homes as a nice shelter until it gets dry again.
There was a man who was lost while driving a tractor on a golf course and they still have not found him yet and they will try again tomorrow to find him.
The newscasters say this is the worst flooding from the 1990's and we already have the third wettest year in rain since they started  keeping records.
So, that's the latest update from someone who was in the flood.
