From the Las Vegas Sun: An 18-year-old woman has been charged with the attempted murder of her newborn after police say she allegedly tried to dispose of the baby.
Sarah White of Henderson is charged with attempted murder, and child abuse and neglect after she delivered the baby in a bathtub and put it in a plastic bag, according to an arrest report.
Police said paramedics responded to the house in the 200 block of Camino Vista Street on April 3 to reports that a woman had given birth to a baby in an upstairs bathroom. The location of the home is near the intersection of Arroyo Grande Boulevard and Horizon Ridge Parkway.
Her father, a trained paramedic, was performing CPR on the infant when officials arrived, police said.
The baby was taken to St. Rose Sienna Hospital in stable but serious condition, according to the arrest report.

This baby is very fortunate that the father of the girl is a paramedic and was doing CPR on the baby.
While many people will feel sorry for the mother, but I don't. First, there is a law in Nevada where a newborn baby can be taken to a fire station, hospital or police station and dropped off and there would be no ramifications to the family.
Second, this woman (not a mother in my mind) knew since July, 2009, she was probably pregnant, so she had time to plan this out. She tried to conceal the pregnancy and when it was time to give birth, she waited until her mother left the house before she took action.
I'm sorry but this woman decided she was more important than the baby. She is totally selfish. I sincerely hope she is actually punished instead of having her hand slapped and I sincerely hope this baby is not with the family now or in the future. I hope the child is put up for adoption and it ends up in a loving home. This monster of a woman should never be able to see this baby again.

I went to cosmetology school with this girl and she did try to hide her pregnancy. She would grab our arms as we walked into the calss room and say "i'm not pregnant" to each and every one of us. We all knew she was pregnant, I mean come on, you were seriously an idiot if you thought anyone was going to by the "i'm just gaining weight". We all knew, no matter how many times she tried to convince us all that she was not. She was "affraid" of what people would think of her. NOW what are people thinking, YOUR IN JAIL and being charged with attempted murder. I don't care what people say or think, this girl was not scared and alone. She was surrounded by people who love her and she has options. This was the last thing she had to do, this should have not have been put into consideration even.

ReplyDeleteThis girls dad is a real piece of work! Don't think For a second he did not know about this. He creates an environment of fear there is no way she could have dropped this one on him. Totally non-flexible and unwilling to listen to anything or anybody. Only concerned with himself. Yeah he did mouth to mouth only to save his own rep. I wish other people that know her would have been there for her and help her face this cause there was no help at home! This is horrible
