It's been at least a month of not having Jerry Doyle on the air. This is one of the best kept secrets that even the CIA would be proud.
I've scoured the Internet looking for any amount of news and nothing is out there. I've even checked for criminal cases in Clark County for his name and now I know Jerry is not a wild ax murderer.
I have had communication with an employee at KDWN, his flagship radio station here in Las Vegas, and they claim they do not know anything as well.
So what is going on and how much does the public have to know.
Well, I believe that the public does not need to know the most sordid details or even a few details. But as a public figure with a talk show with about 4 million visitors, either Jerry or TRN (Talk Radio Network) should put out a statement as to what is happening or how long he will be out. Not only does Doyle and TRN have a small responsibility to it's listeners, they have a bigger responsibility to it's employees, radio stations and especially advertisers.
There are so many possibilities out there. Is Doyle sick? Did he quit and they are seeking replacements and trying out Schultz and Shapiro? Rehab? (doubt it because he would be back already) Writing a book? Talk show host are known to write books and they often take time off to do the writing, but not this long.
So, will we ever know what is going on? Probably not until he comes back, if he comes back.

Thanks for this posting Dan. Your blog has become "central command" for ideas/speculation about Where is Jerry?! Judging by the 30 (so far) comments to your previous post about Jerry, I'd say quite a few people are wondering about Jerry. It would be nice if someone at KDWN or Talk Radio Network would read your posts and the comments made by others. I agree with your CIA analysis, and it is a good thing Jerry doesn't talk to Rolling Stone reporters! I'm going with some sort of mental health/rehab issue. Who knows... but it is rude and unprofessional to keep the fans in the dark.
ReplyDeleteIf JD does return, it will probably be on some sort of "under the radar" day, like Monday, July 5, when a lot of people might not be listening. Then when people call in the next day, the answer to "where the hell have you been?" will be some sort of sassy "should have been listening yesterday... it's old news buddy" kind of response. I don't know, I like the guy and his show, but this disappearing act with no explanation is getting old, as are the guest hosts. Have to give the guest host credit though, for filling in under such mysterious circumstances. Love reading the comments...please keep us up to date on any news!
ReplyDeleteThe problem with Jerry being MIA is that no one knows. I know people from his flagship station read this blog looking for information. They don't know.
ReplyDeleteWhile most people are not demanding the exact details, they just want to make sure he is ok and if he is going to return.
He owes his listeners a little but owes his advetisers and stations a lot more and as far as I can tell, no one knows anything. Hell, even the papers in Las Vegas know nothing and they are usually up to date on these things.
Good call, Anonymous! Schultz just announced that Jerry will return on the exact day you predicted!
ReplyDeleteI will be happy to see J.D. back on the air.
Just before he went AWOL, Jerry made brief mention of his girlfriend up and leaving him when he moved his Mom back east. He also is a chronic back pain sufferer. So right there you've got three possibilities: Broken heart, dying Mom and Pain Meds addiction. But the shroud of secrecy is what gets me. Sure, they're all personal, but why don't they just say that?..."Out for an undetermined time span due to personal issues." Or maybe the Obama administration's got him..........

ReplyDeleteI think it has something to do with his girlfriend..she left while he was gone to San Diego, then shortly after that discovery he is gone for weeks.

Today, as Jerry interviewed Michael Savage, Savage said something like, "I am glad that you are healthy and back". Hmm
ReplyDeleteI know Michael and Jerry are friends, at least in the business. Jerry has defended Savage in the past, especially his problem with England and muslims.
ReplyDeleteJerry had a nervous breakdown when he read Obama's healthcare bill.
