WHO: Texas Department of Public Safety
WHAT: The agency awarded post-9/11 Homeland Security grants to local governments, which in turn splurged on $31,000 Camaros, an almost never-used $250,000 trailer, a fish tank, a $5,000 "eyeball" camera, and a $24,000 latrine on wheels, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
WHY IT'S AN OUTRAGE: Homeland security money is supposed to help keep America safe and prepared in the event that terrorists strike. It wasn't intended to pork up local police and fire departments with cool toys.

At first, I was all for Rick Perry entering the GOP pool of presidential candidates but I am having second thoughts. Still better than Obama but the best GOP candidate? Time will tell.
