Here were my predictions for 2011 and the results:
1. The Green Bay Packers will beat the Bears on Sunday, get in the playoffs, win one game and lose in the second round.: False, The Packers did defeat the Bears and won the first game in the playoffs, but they went on to win the Super Bowl
2. Las Vegas will see an entertainer attacked on stage while giving a performance. False, Didn't happen
3. John Ensign will announce he will not run for re-election. True- He resigned from the Senate but als announced before that he would not seek relection..
4. Dean Heller will run for Ensign's seat. True, he will run against Shelly Berkley
5. Brian Sandoval will not raise taxes but will raise a lot of fees and raid city and county monies. True
6. CCSD will threaten to lay off 2000 employees but will actually lay off around 300 or less. Very True- they threaten to lay off teachers but they did npt lay off any teachers this past school year.
7. The Milwaukee Brewers will be 81-81 and not make the playoffs. False on both counts.
8. The Milwaukee Bucks will make the playoffs and not survive round 1. False
9. This will be the last year for the Las Vegas 51's as a Triple A baseball team. False
10. Harry Reid will spend less than 60 days in Nevada in 2011. (how to verify, I have no idea) I think this is true
11. Dina Titus still won't have a real job in 2011. Very true- she had a job at UNLV, but she was found not to be quailifed for the job and then took a payout and quit and is not employed now.
12. Bill Raggio, the supposed Dean of the Nevada Senate, will have little influence in the Nevada Senate because of his support of Harry Reid. True- retired Jan. 5th.
13. Nevada's redistricting for the U.S. House of Rep's will be evenly split between the GOP and Dems.
Two safe seats each. True, while technically the Dem's have the lead in 3 out of 4 Districts but in th enew District, Danny Tarkaranian has a very, very good chance of winning.
14. Wayne Newton's plans for having his house and property as a tourist attraction will not happen. True- Nothing much has happened this year and there are no tours yet.
15. There will be 3 or more small plane crashes in the Valley in 2011. False thankfully
16. CCFD will lose their arbitration with Clark County. True
17. Some areas of the Valley will get at least 1 inch of snow this winter or next. ( update:True Jan. 3)
18. The Miami Heat will not win the NBA title this season. True, the Dallas Mavericks pulled off the upset
19. President Obama will announce he will run for re-election. He will have at least 2 legitimate challengers.
True on the first part and not true on the second part.
20. Harry Reid will not announce any new green energy plants in Nevada in 2011 unlike when he was running for re-election.
True- since the beginning of this year, Reid has not announced any new energy plants for Nevada
21. Yucca Mountain will be revived by Obama as Obama needs better employment numbers for Nevada. He may slightly change the mission of Yucca, but not by much. False, Yucca is still closed
22. The LVRJ and Righthaven marriage will dissolve and there will be far fewer copy write lawsuits by Righthaven. (for evidence, see some of the articles in today's LVRJ) Mostly true- Righthaven has not filed any lawsuits this year and the LVRJ and Righthaven have don't formal connection anymore, other than fighting lawsuits against them.
23. There will be continuing Muslim terror attacks throughout the world. There will not be any major Christian or Jewish terrorist attacks. True
24. Don't Ask, Don't Tell will take effect and won't have any major impact. However, one Marine General will be reprimanded for speaking out against DADT.
True for the first part and almost true- a 3 Star Army General was repimanded for opposing DADT.
25. Employment in Nevada by the end of 2011 will be around 12% True
26. The Federal government will technically shut down two times in 2011. Obama will declare a federal emergency and all employees will still have to report to work. False
27. The war in Afghanistan will continue. And the so called peace activists won't hold anti war protests because it is Obama's war. True The war continues and and there few if any anti-war protests against Obama.
28. The worst and most pathetic blog in Nevada, the Desert Beacon, won't print any of my comments or any comments that disagree with her/him. True- he moved his blog and severely limits comments because you have to register with Word Press.
According to my records I had 18 predictions correct out of 28. I guess that is not too bad.
