A year ago, the Wisconsin Badges were n their way to the Rose Bowl and there seemed to be a lot more excitement than this year. You go to the different newspaper web sites in Wisconsin, even in Madison, and there is barely a mention of the Rose Bowl. Wisconsin blogs don't seem to be that interested in the Rose Bowl either.
There may be several reasons for this: With the exception of 1 play against the Michigan State and a series against Ohio State, the Badgers will be playing for the national championship. So, the Rose Bowl seems like a disappointment.
The Badgers are expected to be blown out on January 2nd against Oregon. Last time I checked, Oregon is a 6 point favorite, which is a lot in a major bowl game. The you factor in the Bret Bielma factor of blowing big games by being outcoached, and most people don't think the Badgers are going to win.
Further, 2 Rose Bowls in a row makes this Rose Bowl seem not as important as last year. The Badgers were expected to be here and they became Big Ten (12) champs. So, there was no surprise. It would be different if the Badgers hadn't been there last year or if they were favored to be in the bottom half of the league.
So, maybe this will inspire me:
