Could It Be?

Could it be that the gentleman in this below commercial for Shelly Berkley is also a financial supporter and Democratic activist?
From Patrick C. Clary bio: An activist in the Democratic Party since his youth, Mr. Clary was a Democratic candidate in Nevada's Second Congressional District in 1994 with the support of the Clinton-Gore Administration and shortly thereafter was appointed and served as General Counsel of the Nevada State Democratic Party. Named Nevada State Chairman of the Students of Kennedy-Johnson in 1960, 48 years later he was on the Nevada steering committee for U.S. Senator Joseph R. Biden's Presidential campaign last year and then an Obama delegate to both the county and state Democratic conventions after serving as chairman of the Democratic caucus in his precinct.  http://patclarylaw.com/Biography/
He also has given at least $1000 to Berkley.
The problem I have with this commercial isn't so much that he may be a kidney patient, but the Berkley campaign wants us to believe that the guy in the commercial is some guy who is neutral in politics and is only thankful to Berkley for saving the kidney program at UMC.  But the gentleman is not, he is a party activist and financial donor to Berkley.  What a shock.

  1. Since when should a person need to be "neutral"in order to speak on their health issues, and in support of Ms. Berkley ?IMO ,Mr. Clary a Native Nevadan was "brave" to have shared on his kidney disease ,and those who recognized him know it was NO SECRET that he has been an active " Democrat " in Nev. for a long time. Plus what does his bio. have to do with Shelly's run, or the truth involving his health needs and others? Don't you ALL benefit by keeping a kidney clinic close by and Yes.. Kudos Shelly! Pat also has every right to share ,like the next guy, as to why he is voting for Shelly..It would have been hard for him,(as well as others ) to seek kidney care in another state . I too am rooting for Ms. Berkley, but unable to vote for her, since my husband and I moved from LV and to S.Ca in 88. WE had to seek out " alternative/and costly health care" for our very asthmatic and highly allergic daughter in CA!.At age nine, she was still suffering from life threatening chronic illnesses in LV. In fact she was on a nebulizer machine every 4 hours,. Sickly since birth ,plus heavy meds ,including steroids. At the suggestion of the LV Drs,.we moved. Our daughter's health care costs have also eaten up most of our savings. since the HEALTH insurance companies for years could "exclude" her from coverage...and did. Now that she is an adult and somewhat better, we are in our early 60ties.. and in need of affordable healthcare. I am sure Shelly would understand ,esp, since ,I too have known Shelly,as a compassionate person,.and from our college days at UNLV. She has fought hard.. for the rights of others with real needs for decades.. She voted her conscience for all the good citizens of Nevadan and regardless of their L & R political leans. ...Plus nothing Mr. Clary "said" was "false" nor ment to be intentionally misleading. Mr. Clary is not the only person in Nevada ,.who has put his $$ into supporting "good people"..many of whom he has also known for years ,and seem to have the same caring views as he had ,.when he got involved in politics.... Plus does he not have every right to speak out on his personal health needs ? Then you might ask as to "why" I care .over the comments above ? Well,..Mr. Clary also happens to be "my brother",and my only living family memberin LV, Nevada. He is also someone who suffers from kidney disease, but still cares more about the needs of everyone, not just those voting in Nevada.which is why he made the commercial for Shelly .Now I admit, I just learned of this political commercial ,a few days ago.. and this news from a former WHS friend who watched it during the Olympics .then emailed me,asking if I had seen it I did not, until now,. but I assume.. that my brother.was feeling modest,and./or did not want me to worry.even more so on his health plight. which is why I am responding here.and doing so without telling him that I am. However, according to you.,.. Ms. Berkley should have spent valuable time interviewing unknown kidney patients . all who are neural or may have no real concern over whether she wins or loses?. Do you feel she should have used an actor to pretend to have kidney issues..too and to speak on her behalf..in a TV commercial> IMO..How preposterous! Please find something "else" to gnaw on.. as .your Nevada vote is so important.in 2012,and the truth is many Nevadans need quality healthcare there.. . I pray that every Bright and Conscientious woman in Nevada with concern for her family will ..get out & vote.. for Shelly Berkley. and other strong women..who can & will continue to make a difference. YOUR life & future health is just as important as my brother's health is to my family..and I think we should want to keep it available & affordable for all ! Thanks! Joan D. :)

  2. Thanks Joan for your comment.
The problem I had with the commercial was that it made your brother to be a man on the street, some one who really didn't care about politics but only about their health, and this was only half true since your brother is a party activist.
I do wish him well along with the rest of your family.

    1. How long have you lived in Las Vegas? If you have not been there that long..you really would not know who my brother is and recognize his face .nor his name.. like many have & still do.. !!!Of course YOU would need to Google his name & then read his bio LOL..and like what he is about is some big secret?! My father & mother moved to S Nev. in 1941,,Pat was born in 42..MY folks were involved in the Nevada community for years & years as well.never rich..but rich in character.. and deed.. .so has Pat been for decades !! WE were all expected to do our part to make LV and S Nev. a better place to live.. which is why my brother shared his plight & also thanked Shelly! .. .There was no attempt at any deception ....again they posted "his name" under his face.. .. geesh Dan.. ..if you have a problem with needing a man off the street doing the commercial..your life must be very challenging for YOU.. Lots of folks know my brother & should..I am very proud of all he has done for the betterment of that community & not just in the political arena but in other charitable organizations..for years and years.. ... Maybe you should read more on Pat's entire bio before jumping on him for doing a political endorsement commercial. .. and on Shelly's behalf....and btw.. she is the one who wanted him to talk about his issues,,and as she was one who trusted him to speak his mind.and surely thankful for his support during his medical issues.... . I thought he shared his Plight well and honestly ,plus from his heart.. He did not get paid for doing that.. IMO,. you are making a mountain out of a mole hill..and Yes.. what a shame..Have a nice day anyway! :) Joan D~

  3. I am not bashing your family, I am bashing Shelly Berkley for her deception. And I also think it cheapens her commercial when she uses campaign donors in her commercials, whether the people involved are honest or not. When they give money to a candidate and then appear on a commercial, how can the average person believe the commercial?
Berkley is a corrupt politician who runs sleazy commercials And she doesn't stand for anybody except those who have a lot of money or those who can help her career.

  4. First..I know of plenty of Nevadans and others who believe in her and would agree with what was said ,by my brother on her behalf, in this commercial .Then again they may have known my brother, and respected his words ,plus have known him for what he has done for the S. Nevada community !!I have known Ms Berkley.. for many years too , as she & I went to UNLV together way back when..and this was well before my brother ever met her. I learned that Shelly got to know my brother on a more personal basis, sometime after my family moved to CA. I assume she respected him when she learned they were of similar minds on many political issues. Plus,JUST FOR THE RECORD I have ,NEVER personally given Ms.Berkley any "campaign funding"..and also know that my brother HAS TOLD THE TRUTH(sharing from his heart) on how his kidney disease has put him in need of close by treatments. ....Plus she "does" work diligently for the underdogs..as Pat has done as well.. So let me "politely" say again, that I respectfully DISAGREE with you and your negative premise !YOU are not bashing my family ?This..while also saying she runs commercials that are "sleazy"..and knowing my brother was in one of them?? HMMMM... HOW INTERESTING ! Again there was NO attempt at deception..as his "name" was under his face ..as he spoke. ..and IMO,.. it is not anyone's fault that .... "you" are naive , and did not know "him" but decided he was suppose to look like ,or "be" some regular man on the street. Why would anyone surmise that it cheapens her commercials by having her real "friends"many who "support" her cause , speak on her behalf..and while sharing their personal health truths,as well ? Would you not want a FRIEND ,to do the same for you..if you were running for an office? Maybe it is YOU/yourself who has a poor attitude..and is looking for something that is simply not there,to fuss over . What did Ms.Berkley ever do to you or not do for you,. to deserve your rath..and "blog bashing" of my brother.as well as of her....then still claiming the commercial is deceptive.??. I have proven it is not and why. I find ,it odd and mean spirited also alarming and disappointing, that someone who has probably not lived in Nevada all that long.. would have this much contempt for a person or persons,on the basis of HIS misguided ASSUMPTIONS!Again how long HAVE you lived in Nevada, and how old ARE you,Dan? Can your lack of understanding be blamed on your youth???I noticed you titled yourself as someone who still has his "heart" in Wisconsin.. and so now..maybe you are homesick ? .Again.. What have you done for Clark County ,since moving there, and to make a difference in many of the lives of the citizens ,esp. those who have severe health issues & have real needs and personal concerns. YOU sound so very close minded and prejudice. and your . ,.. mudslinging ,reminds me of some of the bullies who were lonely and so they went after anyone they thought they could get away with calling names......BTW.. Ms. Berkley stands up for lots of Nevadans .even the bullied ones . Many of whom have never given her a dime,..and who.she has never met. If elected,I am sure she will continue ! She will even lend an ear..to the likes of you,,when & if you are in need, regardless of your negativity.So,. Have a nice day Dan ..and I hope the weather in LV cools down some,. as maybe that is why you appear to sound so stubborn & contrary! :) Joan D~

  5. I know that there people who believe in Shelly Berkley and those who know her and like her will defend her and i have no problem with that.
But Berkley has had several sleazy commercials (I am not and have not said that the commercial with your brother in it is sleazy)that even the Las Vegas Sun has called false. She has been caught in many lies.
I've also defended Berkley, somewhat, in other posts about the kidney issues where she properly lobbied on behalf of the program but should not have voted on the issues. But face it, both Democrats and Republicans have decided there is enough evidence that she has acted unethically in Congress. And the other commercials Heller has run have shown to be correct in regards to her corrupt behavior.
Is Berkley a bad person? Probably not to the people close to her, but she is a partisan politician and will do anything to win and that includes lying and tearing down other people. She also has a nasty habit of claiming to do something and not sharing the credit.
But in the end and after the election, things will hopefully will calm down.
And again, Joan, thank you for showing your perspective. Sometimes, when we talk about politics, we forget that the politicians and those associated with them are people with feelings, not human punching bags.
