From the Chicago Tribune: President Barack Obama today criticized the newly minted Republican
team of Mitt Romney and Rep. Paul Ryan, telling a hometown crowd the
pair is trying to sell an economic plan of "trickle down fairy dust"
that doesn't work.
Appearing at one of five fundraisers scheduled
for the day in which he's expected to raise at least $6.5 million, the
Democratic president congratulated Ryan for entering the race. But he
also said the Wisconsin lawmaker is the "ideological leader" of the
Republicans in Congress.
"Congressman Ryan is a decent man. He's a
family man. He's an articulate spokesman for Gov. Romney's vision,"
Obama said. "But it's a vision that I fundamentally disagree with." http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-five-fundraisers-on-tap-for-obama-in-chicago-today-20120812,0,6859587.story
Other than raising taxes on the rich, Obama has no plan and everything he has tried has failed. And that sure is worse than "trickle down fairy dust".

I think the point is, "trickle-down" supply-side economics has been tried for decades, and has never been shown to work anywhere. Why then, do Republicans keep trying it?
ReplyDeleteYou're kidding, right Jamie? Maybe you are too young to remember the Reagan years, the Clinton years and the Bush years, but trickle down worked during the from about 1982 to 2007 when everything went to crap.
ReplyDeleteBut to blame it on trickle down is flat out wrong. Trickle down brought in more money to the treasury- the problem was the spending part.
When Carter was president, we ad sky high unemployment, interest rates, gas prices (for then)and other problems. Reagan took over and with trickle down, fixed that problem. Clinton, for the most part improved it and Bush continued. There were some hiccups along the way but nothing like we see now with Obama.
But, again, you might be too young, but I lived it and remember what it was like before trickle down.
