Chicago Teacher's Strike Day 2: Where's Obama?

President Obama is a taxpayer and homeowner in Chicago and you would think he would have a comment about the teacher's strike in his hometown.  If you thought that, you would be wrong.
Here is the latest on the strike from the Chicago Tribune:
Talks between Chicago's school board and the city's striking teachers failed to produce an agreement Monday, leaving more than 350,000 children locked out of the classroom for a second day.
As parents faced another day of figuring out how to care for their children without school, thousands of teachers in red T-shirts flooded the Loop on Monday afternoon to show solidarity for the strike, filling streets and stopping traffic.
"There is a lot of anger," said Vicki Turbov, an English teacher at North-Grand High School in Humboldt Park who has two children attending district high schools. "This is about big stakes, the future of education in our country. This is not about a 2 percent increase."
School Board President David Vitale left talks a little after 6:30 p.m., saying the two sides were going over technical issues and had failed to take up key points of contention, including teacher evaluations and a recall policy. Still, as he has several times before, Vitale expressed optimism that a deal could be reached soon.
"We believe we should resolve this tomorrow. We are close enough to get this resolved," he said. "This is hard work."
Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis left talks about three hours later, and when told of Vitale's suggestion that a deal could be reached Tuesday responded, "Wow."  ...
The teachers strike has national implications for Emanuel, whose education agenda is being closely watched by reformers and labor leaders. The strike's reach extended to the presidential race, as Republican candidate Mitt Romney accused President Barack Obama of putting organized labor over students. A White House spokesman said Obama has not taken a position on the strike.

Obama doesn't have a position on the strike?  How about: "Hey, teacher's union, get your collective union thug asses back in school and start teaching.  You are the second highest paid teachers in the country, averaging $71,000 and then you are turning down a 16% raise."
See, Obama, that was so bad.  Now stop screwing the kids, Obama get off your ass and act like a concerned Chicago citizen, being that you are one.  (unless you weren't born there, but that's another issue)

  1. What a crock. This president has to go. And these teachers - fire them all. $70K and they refuse 16%. Give me a break. Teachers in Chicago have it so good it is ridiculous. No wonder this is the most corrupt state and we have no money in our budget. Hmmm.....and where is all that lottery money going? You know, the money that is supposed to be used for education??
