From the Reno Gazette Journal: Marcus Woods worries there won’t be enough toys to present Saturday
afternoon to about 100 needy local children after his annual Cops vs.
Robbers basketball game.Basketball
players are supposed to hand out the community-donated Christmas gifts
when the game is over, said Woods, an felon from Las Vegas, who has
coordinated the friendly basketball event since 2008....
But Wednesday, Woods said he discovered that the Reno restaurant,
Lili’s Restaurant and Bar, designated as the toy drive drop-off, had
given away all his toys to some of its customers.
Now,
he said he’s going to sell some pairs of his vintage Michael Jordan
“Air Jordan” sneakers to some friends to raise enough money to buy
additional toys.
“I made a lot of promises to a lot of little kids and I won’t let anyone fall through the cracks,” Woods said.
A
woman answering the phone at Lili’s Wednesday afternoon said the owner,
who she said was a man, was not at the business, and declined to
comment about the toys. The City of Reno Business Licensing division
said Lili Lopez operates the restaurant. http://www.rgj.com/article/20121205/NEWS/312050083/Reno-toy-drive-suffers-setbacks-after-restaurant-mistakenly-gives-donations-away-money-jar-stolen?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|People are dropping off donated toys and the restaurant owner thinks they are for their customers? Why would the restaurant owner or employees think that, unless they are thieves or idiots or both.
