Well, This Explains Walgreens Bizarre Behavior

Well, this explains why Walgreens won't act in your best interest-
From the Denver Post: Federal authorities have reached a record $80 million settlement with the Walgreens pharmacy chain over rules violations that poured a flood of powerful painkillers into the hands of drug addicts and dealers in Florida, Colorado and other states, officials said Tuesday.
Mark R. Trouville, chief of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration's Miami field office, said Walgreens committed numerous record-keeping and dispensing violations of the Controlled Substances Act at a major East Coast distribution center in Jupiter, Fla., and at six retail pharmacies around the state. The drugs included oxycodone, hydrocodone and Xanax.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Colorado and the DEA's Denver Field Division participated in the investigation, which led to a settlement that resolves similar allegations against Walgreens retail pharmacies in Colorado, Michigan and New York
The Colorado U.S. Attorney's Office along with DEA's Denver Field Division identified more than 1,600 violations of the Controlled Substances Act at Walgreens stores located in Colorado.
Most of these violations were found at Walgreens stores in Cañon City and Pueblo.
Authorities said the Jupiter center failed to flag suspicious orders of drugs it received from pharmacies, and the retail outlets routinely filled prescriptions that clearly were not for a legitimate medical use. The upshot was many more doses of prescription drugs were available illegally on the street.

What a bunch of crap.  Who is the DEA to determine which is the right amount for patients and the right amount for legitimate use.
As we have seen now with the IRS, NSA and other federal agencies, they make things up as they go along and the Feds have no clue what they are talking about.
But it explains why Walgreens is no longer a good pharmacy to go to:
This week has been frustrating for a relative of mine who is need of pain medication here in Clark County.  The medication is needed for a chronic back injury that was the result of a screwed up back surgery.  The injury is confirmed by x-rays, MRI's and other tests.
They were prescribed Oxycodone 10mg along with another medication.
They dropped the prescription off at the Walgreens at Lake Mead and Boulder Highway in Henderson.
They were told the medication would be available the next day.
They then got a phone call from the pharmacist stating she would not fill the prescription.  They did not say why.
The next day, I went to the pharmacy to pick up the prescription from the Walgreens and I started to ask questions.
I asked the pharmacist on duty and who did not deny my relative the medication she needed.
She stated that Walgreens has guidelines in which they determine if the amount medication prescribed is appropriate.  I asked the pharmacist if that means that are overruling what a doctor prescribed and if that means they more about the patient and their needs than Walgreens.  She had no answer.  I asked if they had contacted the doctor that prescribed the medication and said they had and the doctor said the prescriptions were legitimate.
She stated that Walgreens demands of each doctor that prescribes any kind of narcotic medication give them, Walgreens, all of the patient's medical history. Of course, this violates HIPPA laws about patient privacy.
They then said that the prescription that my relative presented violated Walgreens guidelines in prescribing medication.

If you have a prescription to be filled, you really don't want it filled it at Walgreens because they will share it with the Feds and the HIPPA law be damned.  Just like Verizon, internet and phone records that are shared with the Fed's..
