Now We Have Dog Racism?

While volunteering at Bay Area animal shelters 15 years ago, Jennifer Mieuli Jameson of San Francisco observed that when a new dog would arrive, other workers would often wince and say, "He's black."
After that, she began to notice that black dogs had a lower chance of getting adopted than their light-coated counterparts, leading to a disproportionate number of euthanizations - a phenomenon known as black dog syndrome.
"It was one of those things that once I knew about it, I couldn't turn away," she said.
In 2010, Jameson founded Loup Garou Animal Rescue to raise awareness about black dog syndrome and to help dark-coated companion animals get adopted. It's one of the few organizations in the country with that singular focus, and the only one on the West Coast.
Over the past three years, Jameson's organization has rescued 250 dogs and several dozen cats. Jameson coordinates a network of shelter volunteers, photographers, transporters and foster families who work together to shed light on the plight of dark-coated animals, and to bring them home from the pound.   http://www.sfgate.com/pets/article/Superstitions-about-black-animals-can-be-deadly-4720891.php
I think Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and President Obama should get involved.  This is just an outrage. 
Next thing you know, we are going to have black gang dogs, who hang around the corner, dealing in crack and pot.  And you never know, maybe these black dogs will eat..... well, never mind.

In all seriousness, it's sad that that any animal is put down because it is not wanted.  It doesn't matter what color the dog is.
And this group should be encouraging all dogs, no matter the color, to be adopted.
