Two people have been detained in connection with the hit-and-run crash that killed two at a bus stop near Maryland Parkway and Sahara Avenue this afternoon, Metro Police said.
A four-door sedan drove onto the sidewalk on Sahara east of Maryland next to Chase Bank, striking a 58-year-old woman, a 6-year-old and a 3-year-old who were waiting near the bus stop, according to Metro and the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada.
The woman suffered multiple fractures and the 6-year-old suffered severe head trauma. They were both taken to University Medical Center and have died, Lt. Dave Valenta said.
The other child was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with injuries that did not appear life threatening and is in stable condition, officials said.
A male and female have been detained in connection with the crash, he said.
After the suspect car left the scene, another driver followed it into a commercial parking lot, where a person exited the car and fled on foot to an apartment complex near Sahara and State Street, according to police.
Police searched the complex and located two people believed to be involved, Valenta said. http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2015/mar/30/car-runs-bus-stop-several-injuries-reported/
Sadly, two people died when a driver of a car cannot drive in a straight line, but decided to leave the roadway and kill 2 people.
Life in prison would not be enough punishment for the driver of the car.
