Patrick Kennedy Banned From Taking Communion

From The Providence Journal Online: Providence Bishop Thomas J. Tobin has forbidden Rep. Patrick J. Kennedy to receive the Roman Catholic sacrament of Holy Communion because of his advocacy of abortion rights, the Rhode Island Democrat said Friday.
“The bishop instructed me not to take Communion and said that he has instructed the diocesan priests not to give me Communion,” Kennedy said in a telephone interview.

Well, apparently Kennedy stretched about the Bishop talking to other priests: But the bishop’s office moved quickly to cast doubt on Kennedy’s related assertion about instructions to the priests of Rhode Island.
“Bishop Tobin has never addressed matters relative to public officials receiving Holy Communion with pastors of the diocese,” spokesman Michael K. Guilfoyle said in an e-mailed statement. http://www.projo.com/news/johnmulligan/KENNEDY_COMMUNION_11-22-09_7PGHOLP_v17.38abb89.html

Based on the article, the Bishop and Kennedy have been fighting in the press about abortion and health care.
Kennedy, it appears thinks he is a theologian and did a Nancy Pelosi and tried to interpret what Catholic Doctrine is, to fit his needs.
This really is a very simple problem to fix. Kennedy, if you don't like what the Church is saying, then feel free to join another Church that fits your needs and beliefs. Don't try and change Church doctrine so it can fit your beliefs. It is not your Church.
To Bishop Tobin, good for you in showing a backbone. I wish more clergy would follow your lead.
Here in Nevada, Harry Reid belongs to the LDS or Mormon Church. They are pro life and Harry Reid is not. But they keep quiet about Reid, showing their hypocrisy. You can find that hypocrisy in the different churches around the country and it really is shameful.
