Nevada's largest air show is this weekend at Nellis Air Force Base. Aviation Nation has a live air show from about 11:00 until about 3:00 in the afternoon. The have new air planes and old air planes, stunt airplanes and fighter jets from around the world in the show. They also have numerous aircraft on display, including cargo, bombers and fighter jets on display. Also helicopters from Metro and the LA country sheriff's dept are there. The Civil Air Patrol will have a plane there and they will have vintage fighter planes and jets on display. At the end of the day, the Air Force Thunderbirds will perform. Nellis is the home base for the Thunderbirds and if you live close to the base int he early Spring, you can watch them practice. We also saw some of the big planes come in today- a couple of B-52'a, a cargo plane, an AWACS and a tanker all came in today.

http://www.nellis.af.mil/aviationnation/If you plan on going, you need to drive to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and then you will be bussed in. You cannot walk up to the base and expect to get in.
And on the way home, if you stay until the end, plan on waiting about an hour to get on a bus to go back to the Speedway.
We'll be going Sunday. If you do go, they do sell food there but it is expensive.
So, if you are in Vegas this weekend, stop out at Nellis and see the air base and thank a veteran and the current air men at Nellis for their service. The event is free.
