Who Thought This Was A Good Idea?

From the Las Vegas Sun: Metro Police have arrested a 55-year-old New York woman who is accused of performing a surgical procedure without a medical license at a southwest valley home.
A neighbor’s tip prompted police to investigate suspicious activities at a residence in the 7700 block of Somerhill Point Way, near Warm Springs Road and Jones Boulevard, police said.
Officers responded at 4:51 p.m. Monday to the residence and found a person undergoing a facial cosmetic surgery procedure, police said. Medical personnel transported the patient to an area hospital for injuries not considered life-threatening.
Police arrested Jing Qu, of Flushing, N.Y., who allegedly was performing the procedure when officers arrived, authorities said. Qu was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on two counts of practicing medicine without a license.

A few months ago, a lady died when she had cosmetic surgery in the back of tile store and the supposed doctors from Central America were sent to prison.
Now, this lady gets busted in the middle of a cosmetic procedure while doing the surgery in a house. Apparently, Las Vegas has quite a few of these places in town.
Of course, it would be interesting to see what happened to the patient, since they interrupted the surgery in the middle of the operation. Did they allow the surgery to finish or did they take the patient to a hospital to finish the procedure?
And why would trust anyone trust a non-doctor to do surgery on you? But in Las Vegas, some women do, all in the name of trying to look better.

  1. I just wanted to make the point that we don't KNOW if this woman has medical training or not. We know for sure that she doesn't have a medical license in the State of Nevada, but we don't know if she has a medical license from somewhere else, and if or when she ever attended medical school, or anything else about her status as a medical professional. To declare otherwise is inaccurate. Can we get an update?

  2. I haven't seen an update. It is possible that she has had some medical training, perhaps even some medical school training in another country.
However, I highly doubt she has had any kind of MD license anywhere in the U.S., or probably even a nursing degree. Why risk those licenses to do this in Las Vegas?
