Another Fake Gay Hate Crime

From the San Francisco Chronicle: A former University of Nebraska women's basketball star faked an attack in which she allegedly carved anti-gay slurs into her skin because she felt it would spark change, police said Tuesday.
Four days before Charlie Rogers crawled naked and bleeding from her Lincoln home, screaming for help, she outlined in a Facebook posting what investigators believe was her motive for faking the July 22 attack, Police Chief Jim Peschong said at a news conference.
"So maybe I am too idealistic, but I believe way deep inside me that we can make things better for everyone. I will be a catalyst. I will do what it takes. I will. Watch me," read the July 18 posting, according to police.
Furthermore, genetic testing on evidence gathered at the crime scene undermines Rogers' account of what happened, Peschong said.
Charlie Rogers, 33, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to making a false police report and was released on her own recognizance. She didn't respond to a message seeking comment left Tuesday at a number listed as hers, but her lawyer, Brett McArthur, said she maintains the attack happened and plans to vigorously defend herself.
I would hope the gay community would be outraged by this case and other false claims by gays who said they were victims of hate crimes, but I kind of doubt it.
Right now, whenever a gay person says they were victim of a hate crime, I don't believe them unless there is strong evidence that something actually did happen  There have been too many false cases of hate crimes by gays.
So, we have another time of a gay person crying wolf and who does it hurt, the true victims of a hate crime.

  1. Dan, victims of legitimate crimes are not responsible for this one kooky chick lying. Do you also have no sympathy for rape victims because sometimes people make it up? That's just cold. It's not as though we're dues paying, card holding members of an organization or something. There is no affiliation between this woman and gay people at large.

  2. No, Jamie but it seems there are a great deal more gay people, especially women, who are making these supposed crimes up.
And I realize that it may be cold, but every time a gay woman says she is a victim of a hate crime, I do have to wonder if it is legitimate or not.
As far as rape victims, however there are exceptions, especially a few years ago when so called experts where using bad psychological methods in young child abuse cases. In those those kind of cases, yeah, I had doubted some child sexual abuse cases brought forth by certain types of psychologists.

  3. But i might add, Jamie, it would be nice if the gay community would come out and demand an apology from the so called victim and condemn her actions.
