A 23-year-old Loyola student from Pakistan was shot and killed during an attempted robbery Friday night near campus, officials said.
Police said the man was with another person in the 1200 block of West Albion at 7:50 p.m. when two males walked up, showed a weapon and demanded his belongings, police said. At least one of the males opened fire, striking the man in his chest and head, police said.
The man was later pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the death.
The student was walking with his brother when they were approached by the males and were shown the gun, 49th Ward alderman Joe Moore said in a post on EveryBlock.com. The student thought the weapon was fake and tried to reach for it, Moore said. He was later shot during a scuffle.
Authorities were trying to reach the student’s family Friday night, said Jane Neufeld, Loyola’s vice president for student development, in a statement.
I must have missed it but you would think that this man is deserving of a rally or riot in his honor but apparently, the race baiting thugs, have other riots and protests to attend to. After those rallies/riots, I'm sure these rioting/protesting thugs will get to rallying for this gentleman.
But I am not holding my breath.
