Interesting Contrast Between Russia And U.S. Prisons

I like watching prisons shows. Not sure why, but maybe just watching different cultures and thinking that my life life's choices were correct and that some people's were bad.
Anyways, I watched a show on Nat Geo- Russia's toughest prison named the Black Dolphin- somewhere in Siberia and was stunned by the contrast between the prison in Russia and the maximum security prisons in the U.S.
In Russia, the prison guards were treated with respect by the prisoners. The cell blocks were quiet and clean.
The prisoners were not allowed to lay down after they got up in the morning. They had to stand up or sit down in their cells all day long. There were no TV's in the cells and the cells were spotless. They were not allowed food in the cells, except for meals and apparently, no snacks. The prisoners all had short hair and were clean shaven. They said yes sir and no sir to the guards and they had walk like ducks when out of their cells. They were able to leave cells for exercising, but they could not go outside. They had a cell mate but they had few visitors from the outside.
Compare that to the U.S. prisoners. They basically get to do whatever they want. They are loud and obnoxious and treat prison guards with little respect. They can sleep all day if they want and can get TV and radios in their cells. They buy food from the prison store and cook it in the cells.
Maybe the U.S. prisons can learn a thing or two from their Russian counterparts.
