When I came to Las Vegas about 5 1/2 years ago, things were horrendous at the Nevada DMV and the Valley's emergency rooms. Waiting for and hour or three at the DMV was not uncommon and sometimes, wait times in the hospital ER's were just as bad.
Now, the Nevada DMV has it's act together. I went to the DMV in Henderson to renew my registration for my car. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Unless you have to take a driving test or getting a new car for the most part, you can use kiosks at the DMV's and that is a huge time saver. It also depends on where you go- some DMV's are faster than others.
My wife had to go to the emergency room 3 times within a week and each time, she was seen right away and got to a bad within 10 minutes. Unheard of 5 years ago. 5 years ago, when we had to use the ER, we would have to wait 45 minutes or more just to be triaged and wait more to get a bed. Now, you can look up the waiting times at the different ER's and there seems to be some competition between the hospitals to provide better service. Of course, if you need to be seen at UMC, you probably will have to do some waiting still.
So, while things in Las Vegas are not going very well right now, it is nice to see that some services have improved significantly and they are providing better customer service. Even a government agency.
