When Nature Attacks: Las Vegas Style

From the Las Vegas Sun: A man who was attacked by a swarm of bees Thursday afternoon and stung perhaps hundreds of times is in the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries, officials said.
The man was rescued by firefighters from a nearby Clark County Fire Department station about 4:40 p.m. and taken to Sunrise Hospital, Clark County spokesman Dan Kulin said.
Battalion Chief Greg Cassell said the man was covered in bees when firefighters found him near Eastern Avenue and Desert Inn Road. Firefighters in protective gear moved him away from a beehive to treat him for his wounds, officials said.
About 30 minutes later, they went back to destroy the hive, which they doused with foam, officials said.
Dispatchers received a 911 call and several people walking past the fire station alerted firefighters to the situation, Cassell said.
Kulin said bee attacks are “fairly uncommon but not unheard of.”

I am not surprised by this as we have a lot of flowers from flower gardens to bushes starting to flower and I have seen an increase in bees flying around. This has happened before, about 1-2 times a year, when we get angry bees swarm and take over a particular area where they are not wanted. Kind of like Occupy Las Vegas.
