It Rains Again In Vegas And The Weather Forecasters Screw Up Again

Today, the Las Vegas Valley got a nice rainstorm and Mount Charleston got over 8 inches of snow. This is nice except the weather forecasters thought that Mount Charleston would only get a 1/2 inch of snow today and another 1/2 inch of snow tonight.
From the Las Vegas Sun: Rain in the valley and snow on Mount Charleston had people grabbing their umbrellas and shifting into four-wheel drive on Friday.
Snow on the mountain prompted the Regional Transportation Commission to issue a road hazard advisory. People headed to the area are required to use chains or four-wheel drive while on Lee Canyon Road, the RTC said.
The Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort reported that the area had received about eight inches of new snow on Friday and that snow had been accumulating at the rate of about an inch an hour.
Meanwhile, a band of rain came across the valley, said Stan Czyzyk of the National Weather Service.
Light rain was expected to fall into the evening, with wind gusts of about
30 mph, the weather service said. Temperatures in the valley were expected to fall into the 30s
tonight. http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011/nov/04/8-inches-snow-reported-mt-charleston-rain-sweeps-v/
(My wife and kids said they saw a few snowflakes in Henderson, by Black Mountain)
We also had just a slight chance of light rain showers today according to the forecasters but yet some areas got well over 1/2 inch of rain and most of the Valley got some rain.
Las Vegas is where they send weather forecasters who don't know what they are doing or are close to retirement. We get about 300 days of sunshine, making it quite easy to forecast. But every now and then, it will rain and it seems like they screw up the forecast almost every time. Even the TV weather men/women screw things up as bad as the government forecasters.
But hey, they get the forecast right about 300 times a year when they call for sunny weather.
