City Of Las Vegas Running Out Of Money? I Don't Think So

From the Las Vegas Sun: Firefighters have contained a blaze that caused extensive damage to a single-story historic house Wednesday night, fire officials said.
Las Vegas Fire and Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski said the fire began in a vacant wooden house in the 1600 block of G Street, near West Owens Avenue and H Street.
Firefighters responded after a neighbor called about 7 p.m. and reported the house, which was built in the 1950s, was on fire.
The owner and his son had visited the house an hour before the fire started, Szymanski said. The son told firefighters nothing was out of the ordinary when he and his father left, Szymanski said.
The house had been boarded up for some time, but the son was working with the city to secure a grant to renovate the property, Szymanski said.

Here we are, in an economic crisis in the City and State and this guy is trying to get a grant, not even a loan, to fix up the building from the City of Las Vegas.
Obviously, the guy couldn't get a loan from a bank or other lending outfit. So, he tries to get free money from the City to fix up an old house in a run down area of the City. We don't know if he would have succeeded or not.
No wonder why governments are going broke.
