When I wrote the other day about the police officer shooting around Washington and Rainbow, something caught my eye and it's been causing me to wonder what really happened.
Before I go further, I am not a cop hater and I support law enforcement, (unless they pull me over.)
I will say since this came from the Las Vegas Sun, it's accuracy can be easily questioned.
That being said, I just wonder about this: he "heard shots fired and found a LVMPD officer partially lying on the suspect." The second officer “saw the suspect pointing a black semi-automatic handgun at the downed officer” then “fired at the suspect to neutralize the threat against the downed officer.”
My question is this: One of the officers had the suspect partially covered. Since the officer knew he had a gun since the thug fired it and wounded a fellow officer, why did he tackle the thug? How come he didn't shoot him? Did his gun jam or was it not working? Was he afraid to shoot the guy? Did the thug shoot the officer while he was on the ground wrestling with the other officer?
To, it just seems strange the the officer would be fighting with this thug when he knew he had fired shoots and wounded a fellow officer.
Again, I am glad the thug is dead and no one else got injured and I am not trying to second guess the officers- they did what they had to do. But this scenario seems a bit strange.

“There were two kinds of men in the room, gladiators and scribes. The gladiators had just come from the arena, still covered with blood and sweat. But the scribes were cool, alert and energetic. Now [placed] on the screen were the pictures of what had gone on in the arena. Oddly, the discussion was limited to pictures of faulty fighting. As the pictures were shown, the scribes would comment sagely, ‘that thrust was rather weak’, or ‘there you could have advanced.’ The gladiators, now and then, would try to explain that in the arena there is not time to think of all these things, that blood is slippery and the lions have their own ideas.”
ReplyDelete“The gladiators were now fighting in an arena they did not understand. The weapons now were not the familiar swords and spears; the weapons were numbers, words, rhetoric. As to these weapons, the gladiators were no match for the scribes.
The scribes retired to the safety of the stadium seats. The gladiators returned to the hot, hostile floor of the arena. They knew they had suffered at the hands of the glib, clever scribes. But they remained convinced no one but a gladiator understands the problems of fighting in the arena…”

The first officer tackled the suspect before the gun was in play. The suspect pulled out the gun during the struggle and the officer twice at close range during the struggle, hence the reason why the officer was partially covering the suspect. This is obvious to any police officer. There is no way officer Madland would try and Tackle or go "hands on" with the suspect if he knew he had a gun. It just would not happen.
ReplyDeleteWell, that makes sense. I'll leave that up to poor reporting or the police not making this point known.
ReplyDeleteI'm the cousin of this so called thug, Damon Beal and niece of Marvin Wilson. And i have a Question to who ever wrote this article are you calling them "thugs" because they are Black or because they made bad choices in life? Which I know both males very well and neither were bad people in life just made bad choices at the moment which doesn't make them thugs at all. So when a guy kills his whole family and then his self does that consider him a thug? and also which makes police officers so perfect to just because they hold a badge to kill people and cover up for each other..my question to the police officers in the backyard at the time, why are there witnesses saying after Damon was shot the officer that shot him stood over him and said this is for you mike and shot him twice in the head after he was already down..now tell me which party was right or wrong sounds to me they are both wrong because a police officer is trained to shoot to disable the suspect til they are no threat anymore now if he was already down and no threat then what was the need to kill him? Why because he shot one of his partners or because of his race? And please believe i heard the whole 16 minutes 911 call from start to finish not knowing it was my cousin and uncle at the time on a police scanner in my living room and knew that before they called a 419 on Damon they said he was in custody and then a short time later called a 419...now how was that when the helicopter officer dispatched to the 911 operater that Damon was in custody then the ground unit officer called in a 419 on him? Also you guys say that Marvin Wilson ran from the officers with Damon and which he never did leave the car after it was pit manuevered and hit the wall? Is it because he was badly beat up and the officers are trying to cover up their tracks on his wounds by saying it was from running away? Now since you know everything and also know they were thugs please answer my questions.... Thank you...
ReplyDeleteAnd also my prayers and thoughts go out to the officer and wish him a full recovery.
If you search this blog, I have called members of all races thugs. I don't care if they are black, white, hispanic asian or whatever. If they commit a crime where people get hurt, killed, scared to death or whatever, they are thugs.
ReplyDeleteAnd as I said before, I do have some questions and I really don't have 100% confidence in the cororner inquest system.
You raise valid points and unfortunately, only Beal, and the 2 officers really know what happened.
Okay and now i understand Dan. just making sure that wasn't the case i have seen alot of rude and somewhat crazy comments from people out here in vegas. It's just my family has been put thru so much these past couple of days with questions that has not been answered by the Metro Police department. I really dont have anything aginst them but one thing i really feel is that some of them take thier jobs to the max just because they are the law. Like what happen to Damon has happen to alot of people that make bad choices in life around the USA and i feel like its unfair let that person sit in jail for the rest of thier lives and feel the pain of hurting people and thier families instead of just putting them out thier misery because after you do that theres no more pain. Death let Damon off to easy and it was not the answer and i somewhat feel like he should go thru what Marvin is going thru right now. If this is the case of how the Police is treating people then when they catch guys that kills young childern and rape a 1 year old they should kill them too..but no they let them rot in jail right? I just feel like its alot of questions that need to be answered from them that they seem to be covering up as we speak. I, nor my family can take back what Damon and Marvin did or even can say why they made those choices only they can explain that so what that being said the Metro Police Department should do the same....
