Las Vegas NASCAR Week: Finale

Well, it's Monday and the Speedways is almost deserted. Almost all the campers are gone. A about 9:00 AM, there was a big camper parade out of town. Some headed home, others to Atlanta.
The cleaning crews are picking up all the garbage and most of the haulers are gone, except for the merchandise hauler of #7, Robby Gordon and the ESPN haulers.
We went to the race and sat in the cheap seats, in terms of the view of the entire track, but we also had the majority of the action. We had several accidents close to us and Jimmy Johnson, Mark Martin and Matt Kenseth's pits were right in front of us.
The race was OK, but kind of boring at times. I thought the introduction of the drivers was cool, though Robin Leach is getting old. Carroll Shelby and Kim Kardashian saying "gentlemen, start your engines" was very embarrassing. I highly doubt, before the weekend, neither one of them knew who each other was.
It took us about 45 minutes to go the 3 miles to the track, traveling down Las Vegas Blvd. On the way home, it only took 15 minutes.
The Thunderbirds were great and we got some bonus flying from the Red Bull Stunt team and flyovers of fighter jets during the race.
The race bought much needed temporary jobs to the community. From security to trash collectors, to rescue personnel and extra cashiers at the speedway. Community service organizations benefited by running concession stands. Private industry benefited throughout the valley, especially the helicopter companies.
So, congratulations to the Las Vegas Motorway Speedway. Another job well done. We look forward to next year.
