Another Bad Day For Police Officers

Today, 2 sheriff's deputies from St. John Parish in Louisiana were shot and killed by a bunch of thugs and for no apparent reason.
From the NOLA.com: The investigation into the Thursday shootings of four St. John the Baptist Parish sheriff's deputies will be turned over to State Police, Sheriff Mike Tregre said at a news conference Thursday afternoon. Tregre said he wants the agency to handle the investigation after deputies Brandon Nielsen and Jeremy Triche where killed in the shootings at a LaPlace trailer park Thursday.
"My officers who were killed in St. John Parish were simply doing their jobs," he said.
Nielsen and Triche where killed in a shootout at a LaPlace trailer park about 5:15 a.m. Thursday after they went to a LaPlace trailer park to investigate the shooting of another deputy, Michael S. Boyington, as he sat in his car near a parking lot in LaPlace. A fourth officer, Jason Triche, was also wounded in the trailer park. The wounded officers remained hospitalized Thursday night.....
State Police Commander Col. Mike Edmonson said he believes the five people in custody include everyone who was involved in the shootings. "We are not going to rush to conclusions. We are looking for facts," Edmonson said at a brief news conference in LaPlace, flanked by sheriffs from surrounding parishes.
Edmonson said that although five suspects are in custody, no one has been charged, and officials did not release the suspects' names, before declining to take further questions.  http://www.nola.com/crime/index.ssf/2012/08/state_police_will_investigate_1.html
So far, in the month of August, according to the The Officer Down Memorial Page, there have been 5 police officers shot to death around the Country and Puerto Rico.  http://www.odmp.org/
