The family just got back from our family vacation to Big Pine/Bishop CA. It was a nice trip and got to see many things.
We didn't see a lot of wild animals- some wild horses and burros and some wild ants that were in our hotel room.
No listening to talk shows because they didn't have any there and I mostly stayed from news and politics for the days I was gone and that was nice.
But the people were nice, we got out out of the heat of Las Vegas and came back just before a big thunderstorm hit our neighborhood.
Surprisingly, there was still snow on some of the mountains in the Eastern Sierras.
Gas prices were $4.09 in Big Pine and $4.00 in Bishop. Big Pine is just a small town with a couple of businesses and kind of down on their luck while Bishop is your usual tourist trap, but, again, the people were nice. And yes, Big Pines have some huge pine trees and other trees in the city while I am not sure about any bishops residing in Bishop.
We went swimming at Lake Kincaid, which is owned by the City of Los Angeles but open to the public. The lake was nice sized but no one except 1 boater and another family were on the lake and we had our own swimming area.
Apparently the City of Los Angeles owns a large part around Big Pines for the water rights, so land and housing cost a lot there.
So, we're back to the heat and thunderstorms of Las Vegas. My daughter goes back to school on Monday, for band camp and i go back to teaching the following week.
Sigh.
