If There is 14% Unemployment In Nevada, Why Are There Over 7000 Jobs Unfilled In Nevada?

Today, I checked out Nevada Jobs Connect and checked on available jobs through Job Connect. There are about 6850 job listed throughout the state. I then checked out the State of Nevada jobs that are available and there are about 125 jobs currently available. Most of those jobs need a college degree, but not all of them. http://www.nevadajobconnect.com/
There are about 560 jobs listed through the LVRJ
Clark County has 8 positions available, but most are part time, but they are jobs.
MGM Grand has about 70 positions, full time, part time and on call. I am sure there are more casino jobs available throughout the Valley.
There are jobs available at many other places such as Wal-Mart, fast food restaurants, convenience stores etc.
I understand there are more unemployed than jobs available, but why do we have so many unfilled jobs in the state?

  1. Probably the same reason that Wisconsin and its smaller gubmints have so many. They use the money that would have provided a family supporting incomes to fill their budget holes.

  2. One possible reason:

When unemployment is high, employers tend to wait for the "perfect person" to fill their opening.

That person doesn't exist, of course--and even if he did, he wouldn't be UN-employed in the first damn place.

    So the jobs stay open.

  3. I can understand to a certain point. but when I go to Panda Express, they are begging people to work there. Same with Rebel, McDonalds and everything else.
My feeling it is also the opposite- people are waiting for their perfect job that pays $20 an hour and requires no college degree or specialized training.
