Breaking News: Mass Shooting In Denver Area: 14 Dead 50 Wounded

An unknown people were killed and many were injured early Friday when shots rang out at an Aurora movie theater during a premiere showing of the new Batman movie.
Sometime after 1 a.m., police received reports of gunshots at the Century 16 Movie Theaters at the Aurora Town Center.
No confirmed information is available on how many people were injured and whether there were any fatalities.
Dozens of ambulances and police vehicles were outside the mall, where the theater was showing "The Dark Knight Rises." Police from all over the metro area had been called to the scene.
A witness, Bejamin Fernandez, 30, said he was watching the movie when he heard a series of explosions. He said that people ran from the theater and there were gunshots as police shouted 'get down!"
He says he saw people falling, including one young girl.
Salina Jordan, 19, was in Theater 8 and saw people hit in her theater. She said one girl was struck in cheek, others in stomach including a girl who looked to be around 9 years old.
Sounds like firecrackers until someone ran into theater #8 yelling "they're shooting out here!" then theater alarm comes on saying "murder in theater." cops come running in, tell people to run out. Some police carrying, dragging bodies. She did see police fire. Does know how many people were shooting.

CNN is reporting 14 people are dead with 50 wounded and the suspect is in custody.
People said there have been gun shots and explosions.
Wonder if this is a terrorist attack.
Update: 10 people were killed at the theater and 4 died at the hospitals.
The suspect was captured at the rear of the theater, possibly in a parking lot.  He appeared at the front of the theater and started shooting.  He had a, hand gun and rifle and another gun and had a bullet proof vest.  It happened at 12:3AM MST.
Cops say he is a younger adult male- maybe in his early 20's.
Cops took patients in their police cars to the hospital.
The suspect set off a smoke bomb during the shooting.
The suspect says there are explosives at his apartment and that that building has been evacuated.
Sadly, looking at the pictures, there are numerous cars in the parking lot,  many will be driven again by it's owners.

A suspect in is custody and an apartment building in north Aurora connected to the suspect was being evacuated and searched for possible explosives, according to Police Chief Dan Oates.
Oates said there was no evidence of a second suspect, but the man in custody had made a statement about possible explosives in his resident.
Ten people died at the scene and four others died at hospitals.

ABC says that the shooting started during an intense special effects scene and started with with tear gas being shot. They also reported that the suspect's apartment did have explosives at his apartment. The suspect was 24 years. ABC says that his name did not turn up on any foreign or domestic terrorist lists. ABC News showed the car- a small white car with supposedly with Tennessee license plates.
Children's Hospital in Aurora had 6 victims brought to it and the youngest was 6 years old.  Fox says that 1 victim may have been 1 years old.
NBC reports now that 15 people have died.
People on the news are now talking about  gun control.
Colorado does have the death penalty.

Looking at the pictures on the news, seems like there are several police mobile command vehicles, a couple of ambulances, a fire truck, many police cars but they are clearing out and a parking lot full of cars.

Fox News reporting that a gang task force is at the scene.  Gangs are prevalent in Aurora and Denver and a gang member shot and killed a Denver police officer last month. 
Aurora is only about 25 miles from Columbine, where there were 13 people killed in another mass shooting in 1999.
Fox News is showing the apartment of the suspect.  It is a 3 story rectangle brick building with maybe 18 apartments in the building.  There are some cops out there and the bomb squad.
Reports said, that it's peak, about 250 police officers were at the scene, including officers that responded from 30 miles away..  I am sure that numerous fire departments responded.  Aurora F.D. has 5 ALS ambulances and I am sure that a triage system was set up by the first ambulance on the scene.
CNN reports now that the youngest victim was 3 months old.  Why would a 3 month old be at a theater?
CNN just showed an aerial picture of the suspects car.  It is located in the back of the theater.  Then there is an open door about 30 feet from the car, on the side of the building, which may have been the door he entered through to get into the theater.  The door opens to the outside, so if he entered that door, it had to been propped open or someone opened the door for gunman.
President Obama and Mitt Romney both offered condolences to the victims and to the people of Aurora.
Witnesses now saying a shotgun, rifle and hand gun involved, along with tear or pepper gas canisters set off.
Witnesses have said the suspect kicked in an emergency exit to get into the theater, but all emergency exits I know of push out so, this raises a big question as to how he got into the theater.
CNN now says 12 people have died instead of 14 or 15.  Hopefully it will go down even further.
One gun was an AK 47 according to CNN.

Cops are on a fire department ladder truck at the apartment complex.  The apartment is on the third floor.  They tore off the window and shades and are now looking inside the apartment.  the police officers are using pike poles to open up the window..  A ladder truck and pumper are at the scene.
No one has mentioned a Twitter or Facebook site yet for the suspect.
CNN is reporting now that 12 people dead, 38 hurt. 
Now the talking heads are just babbling and repeating themselves.  A news conference is suppose to happen at 11:00 Mountain Standard Time.
