A Chicago-area man pleaded guilty Monday to possessing child pornography while in Madison for work and was sentenced to the mandatory minimum three years in prison.
But Cesar G. Munive, 51, of North Riverside, Illinois, will also likely be deported after he is released from prison because even after 44 years in the U.S., he never became a naturalized citizen, his lawyer said.
Munive was charged in May with three counts of possessing child pornography after he left a phone behind at Extended Stay America, 55 Junction Court, where he stayed while he was in town in September 2013, working for an event company that was part of the annual Epic Systems users group meeting.
According to a criminal complaint, hotel staff could not figure out who the phone belonged to, and when they searched it for clues they found “questionable” pictures on it. A police search of the phone later turned up nude photos of girls as young as 3 years old.
Munive pleaded guilty Monday to one count of possessing child pornography; two others were dismissed.
Barnett and Munive’s lawyer, Marcus Berghahn, jointly recommended the mandatory minimum three-year prison sentence, followed by two years of extended supervision.
Berghahn said, however, that Munive, an Ecuador native, will most likely be deported after his release from prison.

And no, I don't think he will be deported. He will give a sob story saying he left his country when he was 7 and he wouldn't know what it would be like living in Ecuador and, especially in Hillary is elected, the liberals in the administration will not force him to go.
