Darwin Award Nominee

From the NY Post: A young man who was drinking and celebrating the Fourth of July tried to launch a firework off the top of his head, fatally injuring himself, authorities said Sunday.
Devon Staples and his friends had been drinking and setting off fireworks Saturday night in the backyard of a friend’s home in the small eastern Maine city of Calais, said Stephen McCausland, a spokesman for the state Department of Public Safety. Staples, 22, of Calais, placed a fireworks mortar tube on his head and set it off, he said.
The firework exploded, killing Staples instantly, McCausland said.
His death is the first fireworks fatality in Maine since the state legalized fireworks on Jan. 1, 2012, authorities said.  http://nypost.com/2015/07/05/man-dies-instantly-after-launching-firework-off-head/
Now, the fireworks companies will be required to put warning labels on their fireworks telling people not to fire off fireworks , using your head as the launcher.
And I am sure the family of the stupid drunk person will soon file a lawsuit because there was nothing warning the stupid person not to use your head when launching fireworks.

  1. A guy in Texas also killed himself, trying to do the same thing off his chest.

All of these things were probably preceded by the quote, "Here, hold my beer and watch this!"
