Another Reason To Say No To Puerto Rico Statehood

There has been a push this year to have Puerto Rico become the 51st State in the United States but it is obvious that they are not ready for statehood and in fact, the United States probably would do good by letting Puerto Rico become an independent nation and stop supporting them.
This past week, the boxer, Hector "Macho" Comacho was shot and killed (brain dead).  From ESPN:
Hector "Macho" Camacho will be taken off life support, his mother said Friday night, indicating she would have doctors do that Saturday. It was a decision the former championship boxer's eldest son opposed....
Hector Camacho Jr. lamented the violence that grips Puerto Rico, a U.S. island territory of nearly 4 million people that reported a record 1,117 homicides last year.
"Death, jail, drugs, killings," he said. "That's what the streets are now."  http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/8666895/hector-macho-camacho-taken-life-support-says-mother
There have been 9 police officers of the Puerto Rico Police Department killed in 2011-12, more than police department in the United States bar none: http://www.odmp.org/agency/3228-puerto-rico-police-department-puerto-rico
So, why would anyone want Puerto Rico as a state in the United States if it is such a violent territory?  Well, the democrats would ant the 3 Electoral College votes but I would think that most Democrats would not  Puerto Rico if they bring this kind of violent baggage with them.
So, RIP Hector Camacho, you were one heck of a boxer, even if you were a little strange.
