Thug mom, Megan Christopherson
There has been some controversy about a woman being kicked out of a Brad Paisly concert for breastfeeding.
Of course, there is another side to the story.
The lady was up front with her baby (infant), only feet away from the speakers.
From the San Diego Union Times:
Chula Vista police warned a 30-year-old mother she could face child endangerment charges for bringing her baby to the front "pit" of Thursday's Brad Paisley concert at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre — and video of their encounter is stirring emotions and debate on YouTube.
Whose actions were most appropriate?
The mother who says on camera she "did absolutely nothing wrong" wearing a baby strapped to her chest near the front of the stage?
Or the police officers who told the mother she was endangering the baby standing "mere feet away from the speakers" at the front of a crowd that could easily surge forward?
You tell us.
First watch the mother's video, read my transcript and consider some of the reactions on her YouTube page.
Both the police and the mother, Megan Christopherson, recorded the incident. Friday, the police released the following statement: "She was presented with two options; she could be relocated to a seated area (free of charge) or receive a full refund. The female elected a full refund and left the venue. The Chula Vista Police Department's involvement in the incident was due to the welfare and safety of the infant and not due to a mother's legal right to breastfeed in public."
Yes, there's a subplot involving breastfeeding. Christopherson says on camera, "security guards asked me to stop breastfeeding my child due to complaints."
Mom: Can you tell me what you are calling me out for? Why do you need me?
Cop: Because I need you to come outside because you're putting your child in danger of getting crushed and the loud music. I already called the District Attorney's Office and spoke to them. I need you to come over here for me, please.
Mom: It's illegal to have my child at a concert?
Cop: Yes ma'am. It's child endangerment. Can you come out slowly for me please? We'll talk about it out here.
Mom: I didn't know that it was illegal to be at a concert.
Cop: Come over here for me. I want to go outside so you can hear me better.
Mom: My child, that is actually sleeping. And I'm getting escorted by police.
Cop: Having your child where you are at, when the next band starts coming up they're going to be even louder than what was already down there. Your child doesn't have hearing protection on. The crowd is going to start surging forward. Where you’re at, your child can get crushed, so we’re afraid of your child getting crushed, and we’re afraid of your child’s eardrums being hurt, OK. That is borderline probably child endangerment. You have two options, OK. They can reseat you somewhere else. They can put you in another seat where you can be safe. Or you can get a refund on your tickets. It’s up to you. It’s your call. The staff will do either/or, whichever you like.
This whole incident is about an alleged mother who thinks it's all about her.
That baby should not have been to that concert or any other concert except maybe classical orchestra that plays Beethoven and even that is questionable.
The supposed mom tries to make this a case of breast feeding about it really is about child abuse, which it was.
The cops should have arrested this thug mom, taken away the child and given the child to someone who actually cares about the kid.
And then the mom puts the incident of abuse on You Tube?
Really? And she think people will then support her?
According to the Union Times, 95% don't support her.
She is her own little world, which is dangerous to the child.
Clearly, the mom thinks more about herself than her child. And this kid will be harmed, if not now, someday soon. This thug mom, when she is pleasuring herself in some kind of activity, will put the kid in danger and the baby will get hurt.
Hopefully CPS will step in quickly and get the child before it is hurt.
Another special snowflake.
