Umm, Why Would The U.N. Want An Immediate Cease Fire?

break-time at the U.N.
From Fox News: The U.N. Security Council ratified a draft statement early Monday calling for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.
The council adopted the presidential statement as Muslims begin celebrating the Eid al-Fitr holiday marking the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.
The statement calls for both Israel and the Islamic militant group Hamas "to accept and fully implement the humanitarian cease-fire into the Eid period and beyond." It said this would allow for the delivery of urgently needed assistance.
The statement also called on both sides to begin to "engage in efforts to achieve a durable and fully respected cease-fire," based on a proposal previously put forward by Egypt. Hamas has rejected previous Egyptian proposals for a truce in the region and insisted that any cease-fire agreement must include the lifting of a joint Israeli-Egyptian blockade of Gaza.   http://www.foxnews.com/world/2014/07/28/gaza-crisis-un-agrees-on-demand-for-cease-fire/
So, why would the U.N. want the cease fire?
Maybe because more people will find out that the U.N is helping the Hamas terrorists by helping hide Hamas in U.N. schools and other U.U. buildings?
Perhaps because they don't Israel to find all the tunnels Hamas has built over the years while the U.N. did nothing?
Maybe because the U.N. is powerless in preventing Hamas from using their citizens as human shields/sacrificial lambs?
Anyways, this the U.N. and no one really cares what they say.
